Recommendations from thread so far [bold, recommended more than once]:

Prices are all from Head-Fi Forums

HiFi 780

$100 - $100 - Shure 840

$99 - UE6000

$130 - $130 - $165 - Beyer DT 770

$125 - Audio Technica ATH-A900x

$165 - $155 - ATH WS99

Add $175 - AKG k550 to list the?

The SoundMAGIC HP100 is quite portable for a full sized headphone (mostly due to the medium size/small case), and it is more accurate than all of the listed headphones outside of perhaps the K550, which has many fit problems and is not very portable.  I take mine to school every day in the small pouch of my backpack and have had no problems.  Also, the isolation is fantastic (at least for my head shape), I am able to completely tune out any outside noise at moderate listening levels.  An amp is not required, but it does sound noticeably better out of my Magni/Modi.

Well since $100 was such a steal, I decided to look deeper and found a pair for $83 on eBay.

If anyone is really against these or have suggestions for later, I would prob end up selling/trading up.

at $100 dollars I'd say shoot for the 840 and BTW GUYS the 840 does fold so it fits into a bag nicely!

Yea I found the K550 and HP 100 to b very simmilar, the only advantage the k550 had was mid bass, and only by a smidge... assuming you got a seal with the k550

that said if you can find a Hp 100 it comes with it's own carrying case! And the isolation and comfort are top notch! The 840 though at $100 is going ot be about $50 cheaper than mose used Hp 100

Why they are pretty... photogenic ;)

Loving these so far, keeping my ears warm.

For $83, these are amazing. Not sure if I'll need an upgrade anytime soon, but any suggestions? I'll keep an eye out for deals/sales on those, in the meantime these are keepers!
