PS4 audio setup

After discovering that PS4 won't have RCA, I went out and got some supplies. I wanted to know if you guys think my audio will work through this route:

PS4-(toslink cable)-(toslink to 3.5 mm converter)-(female-to-female 3.5 mm coupler)-(Speaker with a male 3.5 mm jack).

Will my audio go to my speaker or do I have to use a DAC?

The Toslink to 3.5mm converter is a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter).

It looks like your current setup will work.

Remember to set the PS4 to 2.0-channel stereo output.

Just to be clear about the toslink to 3.5 mm this is the one I got.

So you using a Toslink to 3.5mm adapter (converter), so your current connection will not work.

The FiiO D03K ($28) optical DAC would be a low cost way of connecting the PS4 to the speakers.

PS4>optical cable > D03K > 3.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereo analog cable > self powered speakers.

No need for the Toslink/3.5mm adapter(converter) or 3.5mm female coupler.

Oh okay, thanks for your help man!

Just to add I have the DO3K myself and the sound quality is exceptional for the price. I have only ever tried connecting it to my friend's PS3(and yes the audio is great) and that's about it. I mainly use it for my laptop set up.
