ATH-M50S or ATH-AD700x

Hey I am new here and want to upgrade my headphones. I am most likely going to go with either the ATH-M50S or ATH-AD700x. They will be used for gaming and listening to music. What do you suggest? Also I am going to use the asus xonar u3 ( the audio jacks on my laptop have a short so i thought that would be a good solution).

Thanks!

The ATH-M50s are bassy music headphones, but not great surround sound.

ATH-AD700X should provide great surround sound, but are bass light.

Check out the Sennheiser HD558s, should provide better surround sound then the ATH-M50s and more bass then the ATH-AX700X.

Hi there, sorry for digging this back up, but I'm having the same problem here. I enjoy listening to a bit of everything, especially acoustic music. Any suggestions?

Edit: Open or closed doesn't really matter, although I do enjoy having a large soundstage and good clarity and instrument separation.

Im probably going to end up going with the m50's. I enjoy a bit of everything as well and I really like there style/ portability (love what the white ones look like!). Like purpleangel said, I have heard the Sennheiser HD558s are amazing. Also, check out the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80, Beyerdynamic DT-990-Pro-250, I have read a lot of positive reviews for them. I am still pretty new to this all so hope my advice helps! Hopefully there are some great deals soon for them with black friday week coming up.
