TUBE ROLLING THE WOO WES AMP

post #1 of 4

After several years rolling tubes like my life depended upon it - I have finally found what, in my personal view, is the best tube combination for my trusty WOO WES amp. They are:

4  x  Telefunken ECC803s in the 6SL7 slots using the necessary adapters;

4  x  Mullard EL37 (fat bottle variety); and

2  x  Mullard GZ-37 rectifiers (fat glass variety)

Used with the Stax 009, this combination, for me, gives the most open ,musical and detailed sound I have every heard!

I wonder what tube rolling experiences others have had with the WES ?

That's not exactly a cheap combination! What about the ECC82/12AU7s?

I'm using a pair of Psvane 12AU7-T  although as I am using balanced inputs the phase splitters are not in use.....

With the variety of tubes that can be used with the WES the number of possible combinations are massive, this amp really is a tube rollers dream  !

OK, thanks! I was just curious, don't even have the amp.

The number of different combinations is certainly huge.
