bump, anyone ?

I would assume the best DAC, for under $200, would be the ODAC.

But I believe one of the Hifimediy DACs uses the same DAC chip as the ODAC?

how does the odac compare with uDAC-3 and audioengine D1 ? which one would you buy and why ?

I did a little bit of searching and found this :

http://audioengineusa.com/Store/D3-24-Bit-DAC

so basically we have 4 candidates

udac-3

odac

Audioengine D3

Dragonfly....

I should buy one of these ... but cant decide...

You comparing two DAC/amps (uDAC-3 & Audioengine D1) to a DAC only (ODAC).

But I would guess the ODAC is still a better DAC.

I would assume you would connect the ODAC to the FiiO E17, connecting the ODACs analog line-out to the E17 line-input

yes, that's what I am going to do, HiFimeDIY is also dac only but i can plug my headphone into it and hear just fine....i guess it depends on the headphone impedance...

in your experience, does buying a really nice DAC WOW you in terms of sound quality ? is it worth buying a DAC which is better than the E17's DAC ?

How is the sound when you use the Hifimediy DAC, plugged into the E17's headphone amplifier?

Buying a DAC the WOWs, might depend on what audio your trying to output.

I just bought an Audio-GD NFB-15.32 DAC/Amp, comes with two WM8741 DAC chips,

the E17 comes with one WM8740 DAC chip.

The 15.32 sounds really nice.

There is the Audio-GD NFB-11.32 DAC/Amp, which said to offer better audio detail then the 15.32 and I believe uses the same DAC chip as the ODAC.
