Bose QC15 treble mismatch between drivers?

First, I know I know... I got these strictly for the noise cancellation at my office. Sound quality was a secondary consideration. IEMs drive me nuts (have a pair of unloved Etys lying in my bag).

Anyhow these are the special-edition ones with the brown pads, which shouldn't matter. I noticed shortly after getting them that the treble seemed shifted to the right. Further listening and comparison with other headphones confirmed this. I tried another source and tried both cables it came with. Thinking it was a defective unit I went back to the Bose store and sure enough, the demo units did the same thing!

I can't believe something with this obvious of a design flaw would get produced, let alone not mentioned in any reviews I could find.

Has anyone else noticed this? A good, common track where this would be very noticeable would be "Young Lust" by Pink Floyd.

Thanks!

Send 'em back. Bose has a wonderful return policy (no sarcasm).

So I did some more playing around with the settings in Poweramp (my player of choice) and had no luck EQ'ing it out, but did notice that no matter which band I boosted or cut the effect was still there. I then turned the balance towards the left a bit and sure enough the issue went away. Seems the left side is about 3-4dB below the right (just a guess, I don't have the proper equipment to measure).

Still, I can't believe this obvious of a design flaw made it out, especially since I heard the same problem in the store demo units. These were all the current "special edition" ones with the brown pads and graphite coloring (which IMO looks far better than the regular design). Possibly a bad batch? They didn't have any of the normal ones out in the store to try.

Anyone with a normal set of these care to weigh in? I'm willing to live with the flaw as they fit my use-case perfectly and the competition doesn't seem to match up well at all on the noise-cancellation aspect.

I have a normal set, which is fine.
