$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage - Page 327

I'm having serious freeze UI issues on my Calyx M when it gets very warm. I'm on the most recent firmware version. After playing alac/mp3/flac files for a few hours the dap gets very warm and navigation becomes frozen. One example (out of few) is a file is playing and i navigate to albums window and then choose and press a selected album...nothing happens.Repeated pressing also results in nothing and the tracks keeps on playing. If I stop playing the track I get the same result.Rebooting temporarily fixes this issue...

My storage is a genuine sandisk 128 gb microsd and a sandisk 64gb microsd with SD adapter...

Is anybody having these problems?

btw I love the sound of the Calyx M coming from a Fiio X5

Mine gets warm but never freeze.

I saw one freeze with the 3rd M (out of 4). It was playing nicely but when I connected it to the charger the main screen froze. On closer inspection you saw that the everything being displayed was slightly blurred, maybe even oscillating at a high speed, Artifacts of the progress bar were visible on the left side of the screen but in false colors. The music kept on playing...

The full story:

I am now on the 4th sample. The first two had the screen unglueing issue on the right side of the display. The 3rd had the freeze issue plus a scratch on the side of the back panel plus it would discharge when switched off (happened two times). The 4th (which I'm keeping) has a slight unglueing issue on the left display side but seems to work flawlessly... except for the first night, when I was browsing music in the artist view. Depending on the album covers shown there were random bright pixels dancing along the first pixel column of the display. It has never happened since then.

All Ms have been bought from an official dealer. The last two Ms were from a fresh batch from the manufacturer. You really feel silly when you have to return a device so often :-(

My M becomes really warm when playing music and charging at the same time.

After this experience I wonder

- how the screen problem persists even though it has been reported many times

- why the battery still charges at 1.2A whereas many other devices can charge at 2A

- if I should charge while playing - what does get so hot and does it do any harm?

Cheers,
Torsten

Have you tried it with M jack?

It may solve your problem.

Just had a listen to the zx-2 and while i still prefer calyx m sound I think zx-2 is going to give all the high end dap a really hard time.

no, brand new. If I didn't have the daps I own or more importantly had the cash for it now I would be getting right now.

According to owners the unit benefits greatly with 150+ hours of run in. If you like it now then you should love it after a good run and burn session. Reading all the problems with the Calyx M I will be passing on this unit for now.

What problems?

I don't have any problem with Calyx M except battery drain bit only. It is very nice dap.

For recharging M on the go, $12 for an USB charger.

Example of an Amazon best seller:
