yea, I might end up with both :S I reckon they will both sound awesome but different, so it might end up being a battle of personal preferences for people, and people like me who have neither preference or personality just cannot decide between them :P

lol, I think we can trust ibasso to implement the heck out of the ESS chips in the dx90 :P plus ibasso track history for daps is two big success's so far, not to mention that all their DAC's are dual implementations (albeit of WM8740). I'm ready to put my money on DX90 sounding better, and at half the price of the Calyx, any takers? :D

Plus lets look at the other specs, the power output of the Calyx is 70+70mW, this is similar to the DX50, so we can assume the DX90 will be same or better I think. And battery life of the Calyx is looking worse than the DX50 atm, but its hard to say what the DX90 will be like. Either way, at 1k the Calyx just looks redundant with the DX90 around. But at least its not 2.4k :/

I own the DX50. I enjoy it.

However I don't believe that the DX90 will be in the same league as the Calyx M. Those THD numbers for the Calyx M are insane. Different league and we won't even compare the interfaces. Again I like my DX50: good DAP, good value. But time will tell for all of this.

Also $1000 is looking reasonable for what Calyx is offering. The USB implementation is not the typical afterthought.

Some people will spend extra money for quality kit.

I want confirmation that the screen is glass - ideally Gorilla Glass.

Frankly, Gorilla Glass ain't that great, anyway.     Regardless of what the screen surface is made from, I would be inclined to immediately apply a screen protector, as i don't trust any screen material to resist scratches without protection.

For example:

Maybe... but then again, perhaps the DX90 might have the Calyx-M licked, on the amplification side of the equation, so it may even the two devices out, in terms of overall single-box performance.

In other words, you.................................................................................................................................................................................. have.............................................................................................................BUTTERFINGERS

I wonder how this will stand up to the ZX1

Does someone know if you can install Android applications on this one? I'm asking because it would be truly amazing if I could do so. This would allow me to control my audio-PC (which handles my hifi stereo system) via this device since it features a nice big enough OLED touchpanel.

The Calyx M is currently already in my top3 list ... so this might trigger my decision.

Unless they dont really care about storage space because in my book 128gb is fine. I wont store all my files but at least I can store the albums I want to listen to at that moment.

However I think you have made that point abundantly clear in ALL DAP threads, and repeatedly. Sad to say, but at this stage no DAP is perfect for everyone, and when one will bring everything people ask today, people will fimd something else to complain about. At some point you have to accept to make concessions. I for one accepted that I will not carry my whole music library at all times...and in doing so, realised it was not unbearable.

I have to say I feel the price is a bit steep...... I understand there are a lot of rich people on this forum. Hopefully, I will be able to demo to re-confirm this thought.
