i think the power output is lower than AK100 as well? at 1.35v?

Definitely a no no to full cans i think

oops sorry, it's actually 1.25v... even lower lol :D

For me there are really too many design flaw:

- 128 gb maximum possible storage ( STUPID With High-res files !!)
- no. BACK & SKIP button
- no ALAC support
- no Line out
- 3,3 Ohm impedance

Incredible to do so many mistake that ruin thé whole project !

Too Many

There seems to be a bizarre psychological trait to many DAP designers - they work so hard to produce a quality piece of electronics engineering, and then they either willfully or negligently omit certain features which are known to be criticisms of other DAPs. So I have come to the conclusion that many DAP designers/engineers are closet masochists

i have no problem with the impedance, but having no back/fwd physical button is annoying

Well, I anticipate impedance problems with my JH Roxane that are only 15 Ohms !

+1 my iPhone is the least pleasant player I enjoy with its lack of buttons, a real annoyance as you have to take it out of its nest and turn the screen on in order to flip the song.

15ohms is fine... my multi-BA IEM is also at 15ohms and there's no problem with my 3ohm device

whats with manufacturer and their 3 ohm ? Ak100 mk2 is "fixed" into 3 ohm, ak120 is 3 ohm , now calyx is 3ohm , is there any engineering reason why ? Or is this just coincidence?

They like to bring flawed designs so you can buy the "upgraded" version a year later. I wouldn't be surprised if AK240 would have less than 2 ohm output impedance and several months later AK100 MKIII and AK120 MKII would come with the same output impedance values. Of course with an extra cost.

First real info from Astell&Kern Facebook  for  AK240 : 256 Gb internal  :D :D  + 1 MicroSD slot,  185 grammes.

( Calyx M = 64 Gb Internal !  AK240 internal memory = 4 times Calyx !!)

And at what cost? 4x as well?

One of the Russian modders on the AK100 thread (wlaedrus I think) took an original AK100, continually lowered the OI and checked the SQ. I think his preference re SQ was either 3.2 or 3.4 ohm rather than the 1ohm of the then only available RWAK-100. So maybe SQ has something to do with the 3 ohm fixing, maybe not of course...
