Do you own the M, kawaivpc1? have you not already made it clear that you do not intend to buy it?

if they were truly reading this thread, they would have fixed it already. People have been writing about this issue since long time ago.

ask@calyx.kr

Please write them an e-mail about this. A lot of people have waited for this update. They totally misunderstood 'folder browsing' concept. We were not asking a list of total folders in one screen.

I bought this unit and it's on the way. I expected this issue to be fixed by this update but it didn't.

I said I will buy this when they fix this issue.

^ I stand corrected. I'm sure that they will work it out. Personally, I am thinking that the tag browsing might be okay for me but I would still want folder browsing.

My position is still to hear the M before I jump. My other portable rigs are doing good work now - none perfect but that is the point: The M has to be the one DAP to rule them all for me to justify the 1K.

It would be nice if Square Wave would officially distribute into Shanghai, China's largest city. We need a demo model like Beijing. It's weird...

If full usb dac functionality isn't needed the AK100II is likely the better buy at $1000.  I however need a flawless usb dac implementation so it's this, the AK240 or a Cypher stack.  Hence I want this in NA... now since it is the least costly choice.  Technically I believe the X5 also fits the bill but I find it ugly in photos.

It's not unusable at all if you have you have a large pop/rock collection correctly tagged. If you have a large classical collection sorted by composers in folders, then yes it is unusable. I didn't realise that I have literally hundreds of files titled "Symphony No ....". Try searching through those by playing the first few notes. That said, it sounds so good that I am making the effort with my 440gb of classical and jazz.

This. Classical music collection would be a lot easier to navigate with proper folder browsing (not folder play ).

Saying the player is unusable, no.

Neither the current iPod nor my previous Zune have the feature and Apple seems to be doing alright.  Zune not so much ;)

iTunes supports playlist folders (that works very much like folder browsing).

That said, tag browsing is still usable with my 200+ GB classical collection on the M.

What makes you say that, if you don't mind sharing?

My FW upgrade works good
Even there is still have a few bugs

Ex: start button doesnt work as "play" after i paused it for few moment, must press power button then start button
Power ON is still laggy when i pause the song for few moment
Maybe it is a trick to save battery

Still there is a "click" sound when i play song for the first time after power ON
(AK is much smoother)

But overall uograde is very good
Alac can play well
Power is good
Much smoother
It sounds very good

Im quite happy with M

226 pages of crying in this thread?  The AK100II is a trickle down of the AK240, AK software and hardware is mature at this point, smaller size, better battery life, balanced out, discrete circuit over opamps, "better" control placement and rotary volume instead of the magnet slider and our topic for the last month... folder browsing.

I've been busy for last two days...

The result is... It lasted 6hours and 36minutes before it turned off because the battery remained 5%

library : about 6 albums are dsd, most of the files are flacs, about 10% are mp3

I'd been touching the screen often while testing, and the volume level was max w/Yuin Pk1.

That's very good. My brand new unit only lasted about 4 hours 30 mins playing 16/44.1 flac files. Guess it'll take a few charge cycles to achieve 7 hours.

a charge tip : after you full charge while the power is off, turn on the device and charge more...(that's how I did for my test)

7hours is a misstype... 6and something. Thought that was fair anyway ...

I'm re- testing to get the average...
