And you guys not gonna believe it!
Some of M users said about 'noises' comming out whenever they hear some hd-tracks, and guess what is the answer from the ceo of calyx.
M's amp is so good that some headphones' drivers can't handle the 'super accurate signal' from M, causing high frequency resonances(he didn't even bother to mention that the users talked about non-music noises).
And he added that most ceos of headphine companies agreed with his conclusion, and of course, he can't say who the ceos are, because it will make them ebarrassed.
End of the story enjoy the show!

Read my review posted sometime back earlier on this thread on the demo unit in Jaben SG. I commented also on the battery life of Calyx M.

If you look at the above picture, the battery life left is at 74%. I started at 100% at around 13:10. So after 44 mins of messing around (at 13:54), battery life has already dropped by 26%...  Also the battery life % indicator is slightly bugged. Before it hit 74% (at 13:54) when it was around 84% left (at about 13:30), I did a reboot and the indicator went back up to 91% after it rebooted but quickly drop back to 8x% after that.

Three hour battery life? Noises? Excuses from the CEO?

Damn this is so far turning into a train wreck, thank goodness there are still some positive reviews regarding the M or else I don't even know how Calyx can salvage anything from this.

I wonder if there are defective units. Otherwise this ain't gonna be good, seriously negative things are floating around.

Kinda glad they messed up the international pre order, or a number of us would be stuck with a piece of expensive crap...

Even if what you get is a 4 hour battery life with hissing and noise?
Well the pre order was $850 for us smily_headphones1.gif

I dont understand why people would think a small company could release a bug free DAP the first time around. The reason ibasso got so much bashing befofe was because its cheap so many people could buy it and some vocal people expected an Apple UI...
Therr are bugs reported in the AK240 thread too

I am willing to gamble or at least become a beta tester for a new releaed product if that means I can get it at a lower price. There is no free lunch. Of course at 1K it's a different story. iBasso gets away with bugs  because for the SQ their player is capable the DAP is very cheap and that is why early adapters are called "beta pigs". Over time they eventually smooth out some bugs and make a lot of people happy. (But of course it makes other people loathe them)

lol our definition of cheap is different I guess. I'm fine with bugs, I don't mind bugs like non gapless, non working play list or shuffle, etc.
But i think a battery bug is one major bug they should have ironed out even if it's a beta release. Incorrect battery status is not as bad as a 3-4 hour battery usage.

3-4 hrs without replaceable battery is unacceptable...... I am thinking if its native dsd

The first version (0.5!) of the firmware had a serious battery indicator bug as I said. The unit auto turned off reporting that battery ran out when in reality some battery was remaining. The 3 hours battery life refers to the time of the first auto turn off. This bug was fixed after the first firmware update (0.6!). Why should I report you this?

So what is the battery life? I'd say yet it's never great but I never timed from full charge until run out. Today morning I turned on M upon arrival at my work about 8:30 am, I stopped playing from time to time of course. The battery ran out about 5:30 pm.

The official assertion is about 7 hours, I expect it to be about at least 4-5 hours with FI-BA-SS. You'll find out its impedance curve, its impedance is under 8 ohm below mid-hi~midrange, quite current hungry. If you want a long going unit without charging (eg Pico Slim), certainly M is not yours.

About transient response and treble resonance, I completely agree the D&A president after listening to the track (Track 1 of 2L album Crystalline). FI-BA-SS had no problem with the track, but it will tell if you have a bad unit or not. That is high-end.

I think so, but it will take longer than a 2A charger of course.
