Gracky, thanks! I believe you own the M already, right? Now, I think m is great and hope to audition the production unit later

Now if only you could get one in North America =(  If anyone knows a shop that will ship to NA... let me know.

Did you find M sound signature very warm compared to the 240?

No other IEM, but I'm using M with HD600/HP100 combo. The combo is simply great, no excuse high-end sound, after three days of re-burn in. M is by no way warm or 'thick' compared to any other device I tried.

I don't think FI-BA-SS is so colored. It has some sweetness in treble, but it is more flexible and liquid than TG334, more articulate and faster than K3003 IMO. It is less flat than ER4, but ER4 has no low bass below 50Hz, while FI-BA-SS has no bass problem. So I believe it is the overall best IEM.

You mean that the AK 240 is a luxury walkman and that the M is a High End device ? Just to be clear.

Thanks for posting.  Your impressions are quite different from others but certainly more in line with what i was hoping the comparison would be. I just wonder why the perceived SQ is so different. I believe you listened to a Demo too didn't you a few weeks ago ? Does yours sound different than the demo ?

I've received mine this monday. I don't think the production model is much different to the later demo (it is better than the early demo). Actually what others said is why I started to say in this thread.

About walkman vs highend you understand me exactly.

You have some of my phones so would you be able to comment on other music genres, I understand classical is one that is revealing but I have other music genres that really push the dynamics to the roof and really exercise the whole spectrum. Would you be willing to test those tunes with preferably your HD600 and your iems?

I can send you through PM some YouTube Links you can download the music for auditions or if you have some dropbox account, I can supply you with them. Let me know if it is something you can do?

How do you feel overall about your purchase, meaning performance versus price paid?

I haven't tried FI-BA-SS yet, although I have been to stores which has it for demo. I think I will try that IEM on my next visit to have a feel how its sound signature is like. But TG334 IMO is already too warm for me. It is only good for acoustics and vocal focused tracks, so I wouldn't even use it for other genre of music. Even DX90 with its initial firmware 2.0 is considered warm to me on majority of my music collection, and M is much warmer than DX90 and even FiiO X3. Which other DAPs have you tried before which are thicker/warmer than M?

Damn... this sounds exactly like what I like in a DAP. I'm convinced that finding Head-Fi is quite possibly one of the best and worst things to ever happen to me.

gracky, much thanks for the impressions. Most heartening to hear how much you like the M. I sense that there is an M in my future too but I do intend to hear it myself first.

These are exciting times for portable audio...

@Cooperpwc can't you go to a local authorized dealer and sample it where you are, just wondering. smily_headphones1.gif

I want to!

It looks like Square Wave has developed a broad network of retailers in Greater China where one can test the Calyx M but that does not include any in Shanghai.

Jaben Hong Kong is on the list so maybe the M will get to Jaben Shanghai...

At least you might have a shot at it, we on the other hand, would have to travel abroad to be able to do it, not an option.

Looks good, you have either a big hand or they reduced the player size. I'll go with the big hands. :D
