If iBasso get this stupid fault sorted, I may buy a DX90, but as it is, it's a disgrace

.

It is most likely because of some tags when stored in the database creates the gaps in-between songs. When I play the same album from folder view I don't hear the gap anymore. DX90 shares 99% of the FW DNA with DX50 and it is important to have a clean tag for all files.

Browsing by folder with DX90 is the most efficient way of finding things around anyway especially if the folder structure is logical (similar to iTunes folder structure). DB browsing (Album or Artist) gets annoying if you have a lot of compilation albums, the list gets far too longer than you would normally think.

But if all you want to do in a DAP is play a song while it's in your pocket, the interface (touchscreen + buttons) of DX90 is simple and well placed. I've been using my DX90 like this in the past few days and I never missed my target while reaching in my pocket.

M indeed has a stunning touch interface, it feels like a smartphone rather than a DAP. But I have my own reservations how it will play out when you put it in your pocket. ( I you can manange to do so comfortable to begin with)

Yes, i will be buying one as soon as it is possible to do so. I can order one now here in Australia but not sure about when i would get it and i am looking to get one asap.

I can't really compare it to much though. Only the Hisound Audio Studio v 3rd Anniversary, and from memory DX50 and C3. I have to admit though that the DX90 is drawing my attention away from the M a little given that it is less than half the price. I am not too worried about gap less issues since i always rip albums as a single track as that is how i listen (albums at a time).

(older volume slider but still same principle):

So the slider is magnet and IS detachable?

Oh boy, really have to make sure not to lose the slider. Hope they provide a spare for them.

That volume slider looks awful and very laggy! Not smooth atall - what were they thinking??

For exemple, a..." Hugo + player all in one"  ?

all my flac CD conventions atrevfrom dBpoweramp. Thought there might be a link there. But then testing it, one hires file on its own does it. Always embedded art. X5 never slightest problem.

Getting back on track, be interesting to see how calayx with a first model compares with these irrating problems. Fiio get it better by sending out pre-release models.

Sounds sensible BUT

I am meticulous about tagging. DBpoweramp or mp3tag. Use Folder view because I like a structure of Flax, hires, DSD at top. And it still happens. Can assure you having one folder of clean files and playing by directory, in my case, it still happens. That is the thing, there seems no common pattern. I have tried single files!!
What a shame we are spread far apart. It needs people to get together, start with blank formatted cards and load each others tracks one by one to solve this!

Wrong thread though. We need some Calayx news!

Make sense. This years DAPs have improved amp sections to the point where many will now cary one unit. As a home user, a Hugo + would be the ultimate. Maybe Calyx with their Dac expertise will be the closest yet?

Doubt it, looks like Calyx spent most of their engineering and RnD budget on the detachable magnetic volume slider :D Calyx wins worst feature for a DAP award 2014...

I'm having a bad morning, just packaging Westone 40's up with two cracked housings amongst other things. But that made me laugh out loud:beerchug:

Like the DX90 I will wait until all the promised features are actually present but once that usb dac driver is up for download... yes.  Same goes for the DX90.

Do we know for sure that the revised case doesn't have wings for lack of a better word and ride along a rail?  Or if still a loose magnet... how strong.  Fridge magnet, hard drive magnet?  Guess in the end it comes down to how hard it is to get it off.

Hmmmm, Is it possible the magnet could upset the electronics ?

Unlikely - I can'r imagine they overlooked any kind of effect from that.
