Now I need to find a source for the HUGO   :  A Windows 8.1 Tablet + J-River ?  iPAD + Wifi-HD ?  Android + UAPP ?    (in the mean time I will use my 'old' AK100).

And... unfortunately it can't be the M since... as we all know to well, the M do not have Digital-Out.   !   " M "  will have been a perfect candidate ( M on the GO, M+HUGO at home).  But...this useless debate belong to the past now.    opportunity lost...

You are drinking too much Belgian beer aren't you?

Well, then keep your posts in the forum organized a little bit mate. Congrats on Hugo but, what you wrote was nothing to do with M for the moment, it has been a long while Calyx decided there will be no digital out on M.

Jump on to Hugo thread or daps with coax/optical outputs.

DX90, X5 are nice options. ZX1 can be connected to Hugo too. Cowon P1 is coming, it has an optical out, it might be an option for you.

Unfortunately there is still no dap with more than 256 gb capacity + digital out. You can use USB OTG support features of DX90 and X5 and add a lot of capacity but then your rig will be even bigger than dap+Hugo only.

Personally, I don't object to what bmichels posted, because, for those of us who have followed this thread for a longtime, the post was contextually-appropriate.

Uncomfortable reading, perhaps, but contextually-appropriate to the longterm discussion.

Anyway, congrats on the Hugo, bmichels :beerchug:   (yes, those beers are Belgian!)

I'm still on the fence, and still eager to hear user impressions of DX90 and Calyx-M.

Thank you for your support :-)   At least someone understand my frustration...

( Now, I am looking at  The Panasonic FZ-M1 : a rugged 7" Tablet with 256 Gb on board + MicroSD, USB 3 &  Windows 8.1 pro 64 bits: Welcome  JRiver or Foobar :-)

Oh, believe me, I understand that frustration

As for the Panasonic FZ-M1, well, for me, it is much too expensive for what it does, so that would not be an option I'd be willing to consider.

Good luck on your search and when you finally finish the search, let me know (not here, but via PM) what you end up buying!

Back to the Calyx-M, I'm wondering how much the pricing is going to alter, when a US distributor is announced.

People are being a bit uptight - that was a very brief post and not a rant, something a mod would never respond to. Give the guy a break.

Go for the Toughbook, best ROI for mobile devices due to ruggedness. I always recommend Toughbooks to my friends and clients, even used, they are worth it. That tablet certainly isn't cheap, but it will outlive any competitor.

With M and no promotion offer there is another insult asCalyx is moving at a snail speed to release M.
I wonder if Calyx really want buyers money or just gladly indulges into sado-maso business games?

I hope their M will sound as i expect it to sound, but since no rush without promotion offer i will be curious to wait for comparisons to DX90 and Cowon P pleyers, and also potentially ak120 and ak240.

And better M does not disappoint because it looks like Calyx will need loyal high enders since their marketing flop puts away the other crowd. So Calyx must jump out of the pants now to please hard core highenders who will be their main auditorium.

Funny and stupid, Calyx could have killed DX90 and Cowon P pre-marketing by simply offering fast promotion discounts and proper release time... But they screwed themselves by indulging in snobbish strategy.

Lets see if SQ will be worth it all.

I don't know if I would go as far as saying they are moving at a slow speed, it won't be available until May anyway and there are still plenty of days in April, so some patience is always a plus in this case.

As this stage, I would like to hear impressions from the Korean customers and the press to see where they feel the player stands. If the product is really outstanding, I don't think that anyone would feel bad about the price and a little waiting.

You can try this setup when Toshiba has launched its mini Stor.e wireless adapter.

I suppose you intend to use this with s Hugo and not with M only.

When they announced their regional distributors Jaben mentioned they will have a pre-order special. Not sure yet if it's a bundle discount or an early bird discount for M.

Regardless, discounted or not the only way I'm getting M is if it sounds better than DX90 to me. I can buy a DX90 as soon as it is available then compare it later when the M arrives to my local retailer for a demo. At twice the price, I expect the M to be better than DX90 SQ-wise. If not then I'll just stick with DX90. If I like M better, then I won't lose much money selling DX90 later.

There, that's my play.

Very good play, a better plan would be to wait until both players are available at the store than pick the one you prefer. smily_headphones1.gif

Now buying the player strictly for SQ, isn't that short sighted if you don't involve other criteria like what you plan to do with it, functions and UI not to mention earphones and headphones you own? Just for example say you compare the players and find out SQ to be better for one player matching your favorite earphones but the other seems to excel with some headphones you use regularly. Which one will you keep?
