I remember somebody was asking for this n that and they said no because this is the best:)

"...this is the best " !!.... How could we call this ? lack of humility ?

Or may be they just live on another planet where there are no other DAP like XXXXX (can't name it ;-) with: Double-DAC Chip + 4 time the capacity + 2,3 V output voltage (instead of 1,25 !)+ Balanced Headphone-Out + Balanced Line-out + DIGITAL-OUT ..... and that already many people heard and qualified as "stellar SQ" ?

I will find it Ironic if a Calyx FEMTO user have to buy DAP XXXX to feed his FEMTO just because XXXXX has Digital-out, and the "M" don't :p   Could I call this missed opportunity ?

M is supposed to be Mobile, on the go, headphones. Maybe in the future they may release a desktop / rack based media server with digital outputs to feed their DACs using the UI of M. Usually these are different public. Just give them more time. As you said they are a small company entering a new market for them, they need to perfect their first product.

It does tend to be best to give signals one path and load instead of 2. How much better(noticeable?) and at what expense of versatility is the question. For me, I wouldn't use it as dig source anyway so as long as it serves it's main purpose optimally, I'd be good. That said, Calyx do seem a bit pompous with saying that they're absolutely the best and infallible while at the same time not wanting to actually be compared.

Well, so far Calyx was my choice… too bad I'll be in Japan in april and have to get back with a X5 or the "inexpensive" AK240.

Where do you live? They told me for the international folks like myself May is when the player will be available so you are far from being late. Korean release is for April. smily_headphones1.gif

You don't have to get back with anything just wait. Do you have another player to get by?

I live near Seoul now....

Let me get it straight.....

Well... once in a while you see these people w/ tendency of Asphergers... and that's me. Because of my weird background, I started up my life w/ 4 different languages since I was born...

Was born in Jersey, but almost traveled around the world during my early dayz.... but have descent schooling including college in the states.

I didn't sleep that much for last couple o' weeks w/ all the hype (Just got to the world of Head-fi... you might recognize this kind of tendency when asphergers get into something interesting). plus I try to chat n write in 3~4 different languages to gather infos and give out infos about the sound.

Sometimes, switching one language to another gets hard n it screws me up... but will get settled in about several weeks.(I didn't wright in english for a while)

My id in the korean head-fi community which I mentioned..is bully.... I get misunderstood easily, and things in korean are just about same as in here... but nothing to lie about because I get nothing out of what I'm doing and obviously have no relation w/ the company. I'm struggling with all these and I just started my age of 40s  this year.

I'm jetting out to work... I'll make some comment about the sound later today... Sorry because I sort of got blew up and was mumbling a bit.

I still can't guaranty about the words because I look at the keyboard n type. and I will ignore some words because I get all screwed up when I loose my temper.

Please ask me kindly if you think I'm speaking unfair words towards competitors... I also reserved my piece of HM802 to pick up when I visit China.(I was talking about this in front of the person from calyx and the person wasn't quite happy because my speech about HM802 was for a while... you see?)

Thanks for the cheering words:)

Oh this one wasn't the question asking to me...

I also heard about their plan on some sort of expansion connection later this year...

I still couldn't figure out if that is a newer version of Femto or something totally different. I've asked some questions indirectly when I went to that workshop, the person from calyx was very cautious so I couldn't continue the question.

But I felt Calyx is working on some sort of expansion of M for sure... seems like they will release the thing within this year...

Plus... Please understand that I just can't tell everything what I know (I've heard more things but some of those are things which I promised to keep my mouth)

It is nothing like they're forcing me... I just want to keep the promise n get more info... This is not unfair thing because I went to that workshop, think of it as you get more info when you attend any other audio show.

Actually.. The person from calyx who I was spoken to was nicer than I thought, so I don't want to loose his faith on me.

Yes. From Calyx Facebook page (link). :)

Digital Out from Calyx M revisited.

We won't put digital-out at the M since,
1. M has already great DAC inside.
2. We don't have enough time to add/test of new digital transmitter with clean jitter. For hardware, we spend a lot of time for test before going production.
3. For a transport on your desktop or racks, we will introduce a new model with more features and terabytes memory capable.
4. some more reasons not able to mention here now..

I appreciate your understanding.

Happy listening...

I know what you are saying, it's not that they told you directly not to say anything but you want to make sure you are not compromising yourself by reveling internal company information or sometimes called trade secrets. In those instances, it is best not to talk.

What they told me about what's coming up and they could not say much because they said it was internal company info; they will announce the availability and specs of their smaller dap (mini-M - my interpretation not Calyx) in May, at the same time the international Calyx M will ship so they told me watch for the announcement. That was pretty much it.

They also told me that September is when they'll unveil the smaller player. I am going to save for it, its size is definitively going to be attractive for commuting (portable). Now I hope they'll publish the specs soon, really curious as to what it will have.

So you recognized  that I know something but can't just tell... Thanks for your understanding words:)

I get all scared w/ the attitudes of the people related to the industry because I'm not involved but just a fan...

I'm pretty sure there are some people here from ibasso or Fiio, too.

I just don't want to be an ******* to the people who helped me to quench my thirst of interest about the sound.

The smaller version of their product will be less than Calyx M in sound quality but smaller in size... (told me M is their flagship, but who knows...things change) thought smaller than AK100 as somebody described roughly by his hand... maybe I was just too cautious about the info...I better settle back:)

What I heard about the launching date was roughly around October... not to far off from September...

Well you have to remember that at the end of the day, the idea is to sell the players by the truck load so a little carefully leaked information helps a lot in creating a buzz. They know what to say and when to stop. The other thing is that the date is soft. I have heard vendors telling me a date and then changing their mind and pushing it so you have to take the info with a grain of salt.
