$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage - Page 126

It's their behavior that we talked about, how they present themselves to their customers, it's not a question of deserving or not deserving what was said. Once the product comes out then we can talk about how good or otherwise the product is. I am definitively interested in knowing if it's stellar. But you have to admit that they placed themselves way up there with their comments. I'll be the first one to give them
Kudos if they have.

I'm pretty old school and a customer that will put up with a lot as long as the goods are delivered - I shut up and pay.

All this whining about discounts is going nowhere. If it's as good as it's claimed then NO DISCOUNT!!!

Seems that once posters get a bug up their butt, it crawls way up in there. Multiple attempts at extraction  just makes things more irritable.

Things have changed since, in the world of options, businesses now understand that if they treat their customers wrong they could literally loose business as they have the choice to move to competitors, it's good for the consumers and hard on the business owners but if you made the choice to go into business and you do it right, the rewards are plenty.

The most successful businesses have understood that and they are thriving.

Unfortunately we have nothing yet to talk about player wise, it's still in the making.

Yeah I get that - that has always been around. But in a stack of hundreds of competitors there will always be something quirky, not quite conformist but damn they make something that nobody can match and you just keep quiet, accept it and pay up...Like Linn LP12, Goldfinger & Koetsu catridges, Momentum preamp, DAC2x etc..

I'll reserve judgement until then. If the sound is anywhere near what is hyped - it's too cheap. If not well discount away....

I don't know if I would elevate this specific quirky manufacturer as damn good, there are other capable manufacturers out there with a better customer facing attitude. Humility carries you far, arrogance will bring humility back when you fall. I won't mention which vendors behave properly you know your way around head-fi like I do enough to recognize who they are. So a stellar product with a lousy attitude can fall flat on it's face if the support or the vendor's attitude is not there. I am not saying Calyx is like that but I would leave marketing to the expert, this is one place where such activity should be left alone to the right people.

Anyway I guess we are disgresing from the main thread's subject Calyx M smily_headphones1.gif

There's just one thing we can all agree, Calyx M better be good enough to justify it's pricing position. Soon enough I hope.

Hey guys.... I writting from South Korea...Guess what?  I finally checked the sound of the final product version of Calyx M. I was so amazed by the sound... nothing can even come closer to the M.

The resolution was so clear that regular mp3 128k sounded so bad... compare to superb DXD man!  (just because M can function as a microscope of sound.... this monster dissects the sound into pieces...)

The CEO of calyx, Sung-mok Lee, claimed that The final product will provide special DXD files made just for the demo of M...I checked the sound just 5~6hours ago...

It's 4:58am in South Korea n I couldn't get any sleep last night, too. So I will make a small review tomorrow... Recongnized that M is the BEST!!!

Sorry about the bug info... I got embago on those....

p.s Mr.Sung-mok Lee told us that his crew just found out crucial bugs in es9018k2m n They've been takin care of the bug...

So the final product will be clean n nice:)

First good morning from the US, it's 4:14 PM here and thanks for the early impressions, sounds really promising, which other players did you make your comparisons when you said nothing comes close?

Any ideas what the DAC chip bugs were?

I wonder if the same bugs are found by iBasso in their DX90 since DX90 is using dual es9018k2m.

what other dap's did you compare the M with?

Guys, i think we have to be fair. 150$ was a good discount that would cover ship plus custom, so this was not very smart to challenge Calyx on this.
Second thought, in world of high end audio the word - discount - is not existing, rather take it or leave it. You check Naim, Wilson, McIntosh, DAgostino and them likes, none of them would give you price off on new product, sure older models can be discounted by dealers but not new ones.

On the rest, i was willing to jump blind on M if discount, now that promotion is off the table i will wait for SQ impressions and will decide then.
Talking about product on the merits of discount or no discount makes little sense imho.
