as regards iBasso i sold my DX50 because of sound quality. to make DX50 sound good you need amping, without amp DX50 feels cold edgy and less controlled. my RWAK easily beat DX50 even amped. and what i know is DX50 amp section sucks and makes a perfect product not so perfect.
so i do not have much faith in iBasso sound quality anymore. how can a reputable DAP maker skimp on amp section and compromise the whole product because of this??? beyond my understanding. so iBasso will have to jump out of their pants to get me back as their customer.
i understand DX50 is cheaper than many competition but hey.... we are in high end world where sound quality is the most sought virtue... otherwise for GUI and gimmicks iPods and Cowons beat iBasso by a mile. so hanging in between makes little sense. hope iBasso takes a note of this.

I also sold my DX50, but more in anticipation of the DX90's redesigned amp section. Agree the DX50 amp is a bit cold and not refined, probably a attempt to compensate for the warm 8740. Many locals here mod the output and buffer and reported vast improvement. Not really a fan of RWAK100/120 and hard to imagine they beat a decent dx50 stack... The amp section is also my biggest concern of Calyx M.... the slim size isn't really suggesting a powerful amp section.

From the Facebook page..

"The list of Regional Distributor in each country / Economic Region) of Calyx M shall be Released from April 2nd. (Yes we avoid April Fool's day)."

Hmm, does that mean we have to wait to purchase a unit from a distributor and therefore there is no early adopter special ?

I wont be surprised. Their ego might be saying 'Screw the internationals. They don't deserve the pre order'

No more pre-order then? Looks like I will go DX90. :)

That's what happens when you kick a gift horse in nads. I couldn't believe how so many though they weren't getting enough of a deal because the small local market get an earlier better one. They were now on the same one. Folks should have thanked them for the opportunity of 15-20% off instead of so many having a hissy fit over it. If the risk too high at that discount, than just wait and pay closer to retail. Don't scold Calyx for not being even more generous. I'm sure there will now be comments about never buying the unit because they pulled the offer.

I wouldn't judge iBasso on one miss in an amp section of the DX50. They were and amp maker 1st and the dx100 reportedly has a fine amp stage. If you temper your expectations by the majority of what they have made/make, you should at least expect a very good amp section. Won't know until it's offered but that seemed an odd extrapolation. I'm more encouraged that they eventually got the codecs and OS working well. Can't wait for both these players.

Is iBasso offering a 35% off pre buy? How dare they not and I'll never buy from them again if they only offer 20%,;) LOL.

I decided a while ago that in spite of a few LITTLE things i don't like about the player i am definitely going to buy it. An early adopter bonus would have been nice but i really don't care about it too much. The thing is that in two and a half weeks i will know where to order one from and that is exciting. I hope there is an Oz distributor but if not i will find a way.

I am prepared to back this player more than the DX90 since my very limited experience with iBasso wasn't very convincing. I bought a DX50 based on what were probably hyped impressions only to be disappointed with the sound. My old Hisound Studio V 3rd Anniversary sounds better. I think Calyx M will sound great and be a significant step up.

Not really, but now people will just sit and wait until it's confirmed that everything advertised is worth every penny. Maybe it's a good thing for them, they won't get swamped with too much initial orders they can't produce on time. Just ask JHAudio what happens if you stretch beyond what you can deliver.

For the meantime, DX90 is a low risk at the moment and much easier to swallow at half the price if you jump right in soon as they release it next week.

Perhaps, Calyx is very confident they have an ace with the M against the competition.

I agree with all that but apparently you haven't read all the comments. Hard to believe how many got their nickers in a bunch when Calyx 'only' offed it at $850. It got bad enough that Calyx didn't want to deal with the flak on their facebook page and forums. The complainers ruined the pre buy for everyone. That said, I'd like to have seen Calyx be a little thicker skinned and stay their own path instead of what I consider a bit of an overreaction. I don't really blame them but would have preferred they simply stated that this was the best they could currently do and thanks for looking.

Who knows f that's all there was to it. They also have distributors in other countries. Perhaps they also got some grief from them for taking away their sales.

I think they have read the comments and were just pondering the thought of cancelling the international pre-order offer which by their comment on their fb page about releasing the list of their regional distributors for each country/economic region  (whatever that means) on April 2 indicates that the pre order deal is definitively off. In a way what it does is it makes you more patient and not rush into it (I hope I am not kidding myself by saying that).

It's extremely poor form, to behave in such a manner, in any aspect of societal life, be it business, relationships, or whatever.

I do share this feeling.  D&A certainly didn't win me with their treatment/attitude towards non-local market customers even if I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubts for culture/language barrier etc.

I may still end up buying if this is indeed as well-built and good sounding as I had been wishing it to be, but I won't take a leap of faith to buy "blind and deaf".

I don't consider a home town discount discriminatory, especially when the current home town discount was the same as they offered the rest of the world.

I think it's not the price difference but rather the way they handled/answered the questions people asked in their FB page what pissed most people. Let's face it, international price can't be the same as the local offer. But they could have handled it differently. If they didn't responded to the questions at all would have been better.

Rightly said bro....

They tried to be proactive in trying to reply to some queries on their FB wall, but they should have use better words.

The words they chose made them sound aloof and pissed some of us.

It could be the language barriers or they really don;t give a toss about the overseas market
