$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage - Page 79

This is what I'd do if money would be no object (to a certain limit: no overpriced daps   )

Buy the Calyx M for the road and iems/desktop day

The X5 for lounging around and the phone/desktop day

The D90 at work.

Then once in a while alternate the use and compare the different sound and grin depending how confused I have been thinking it was a different dap :D

Look the only reason they are offering the initial discount is capture the ones who are in-the-know and know about the X5, Dx90, DX100+ and sony ZX1 among others.

To compete it's hard to be 3 times the prices of an X5 even if you are a better product.  Plus they know the ak240 came out and it has made a lot of audiophiles cringe as we all know it's not worth the price.  They can't afford to be seen as another iRiver out the gate.  I hope they don't become that.  Thank god for Fiio and iBasso.

Of course this is only my opinion so feel free to provide your viewpoint as well.  I think it is in Calyx best interest to offer up a discount to those on this thread and other audiophile sites.  It gives them the opportunity to get their name out there and in the market with some penetration they may not have seen if the discount did not exist otherwise.

It's taking quite long for them to announce what's the international pre order price...
I'm still very interested in the Korean pre order frown.gif

They have just posted the latest mock-up design on their FB page, with the card slots moved to the top and added Next and Previous track buttons.
No news on the pre-order prices for their international customers yet

I think it looks a lot better than most other current offerings. Simple design and clean looking. A bit iPhone ish but you can't have everything.

I think that it looks really good - better all the time.

Now that I see card sockets are empty, I hope we will be able to get a nice case that protects those entrances too.

It's from their Facebook site so yes, as official as exists at this point.

Thanks mate, I don't use FB, so for me it is a bit difficult to understand where the photos are coming from.

I guess apart from the uncovered sd/micro sd card slots, I am completely fine with the design.

Let's hope that volume slider won't explode our multi ba driver ciems and makes us deaf (Mythoooooooooooooon :D). I hope they built that thing good otherwise, I share Mython's worry on this subject.

I don't have a big problem with the exposed card slots. It's handy for fast swapping. The key is to leave a card in for connector/dust protection. So, for example, I will probably be fine with the internal 64GB and a 128GB SD card to start but I will put a spare 8GB card that I have into the microSD slot just to 'keep it full'.
