Apple ipod and mp3 have ruined many people's ears... amen.

Now I can have the internal for albums I like to have all the time at me, the micro for my DSD and DXD files and the SD for regular music updating. I honestly could not care about lineout, I would not be using it as now days I am not a fan of amping. If a DAP which needs amping I will not simply buy it. Before I used to be okay with it not anymore.

I am just hoping it is suitable with IEMs, those who wish to have their HD800 hooked up with Calyx M in my view are simply trolling.

I respect your opinion but no offense if I want to stream lossless files from a DLNA server at home I should. I don't think I can fit 2 TB of lossless music on SD cards.  Just my 2 cents but not a deal breaker for me just a nice to have.  Maybe even update albums and playlists remotely would be cool.

It's fine for us to ask for what we want. As I am sure the M peeps are reading. But they will provide what they can. And I would prefer what they give us works well and sounds great over a mess of options that do not work well or maybe at all.

Like the DX100 mess
After 30 firmware s and still most never worked. So let them give us a really good sounding and working whatever device

Just my thoughts.

That is a fair point but if you are at home you can use the USB feature of the M. I think a portable DAP needs reliable storage and SD card is something that a lot of us would need, wifi is something that perhaps a small minority would use.

Perhaps the future iteration will have it but as far as I am concerned I am happy with it and as selfish as it sounds I am glad wifi is replaced with SD as it is a feature that is far more useful than wanting to browse a 2 TB hard disk to listen to some song you have a craving for. The amount of storage that M offers now is simply should be more than enough to satisfy a large portion of us and like alway you cannot keep everyone happy but if you can keep the majority happy you got things right.

Aye we shall see.  Looks like I will have a stable full of DAPS.  Love the anticipation.

Of course I'm going to re-add this to the thread.  I wonder how the x5 or M will sound paired with a Hugo?  Time will tell.

Since the M lacks digital outputs you can't pair it with a Hugo  :deadhorse:

I share your concerns:

but Calyx are evidently determined to proceed with a sliding volume control, in spite of the potential dangers. I can only hope there is some kind of failsafe feature, but I am not optimistic about this.

Not pairing with the Hugo is not loosing points, at >3k$ combined I would rather want to stick with the M only. It's designed to work on it's own unaided. And besides this not a competition, each have their merits and downfalls plus some might also be related to personal preferences.

I am with you on that too, I'd hate to have it easily slide while in my pocket or trying to reach it. And let's hope it's a mechanical fail safe and not through software disabling.

It's a magnetically linked slider. Cool concept. That's all we know for now.

If it's a magnetically linked slider, how easy is it to slide from side to side? Mind you if they provide volume limiting, this could help in preventing dangerously high volume blasts. smily_headphones1.gif

We will see...

Others can worry all they want. I think it's cool.
