Modi and magni? Congratulations! Just remember you can't use dolby headphones with modi as DAC, only when the sound card feeds the amp.

I'm either going to get the Modi and magni or just get an Asgard 2 and run it off my sound card, which will I have decided will be a creative titanium HD rather than the ASUS. These will be on the upper limit of my budget but I think it will all be worth it. Now I just need some cables and I'll be set.

I have the Asgard 2. Used to have the Objective 2 amp, which many people find comparable to the Magni. Certainly, the Asgard 2 is a little better amp than my Objective 2 (but not dramatically in terms of SQ). For low impedance headphones like the Philips X1, I would suspect that you would not find a big SQ difference over the Magni (really depends on you). One advantage of the Asgard 2 is that it has pre-amp output, which is nice if you also want to hook up speakers and control them with the Asgard 2 volume control. Then again, wouldn't hurt to get the Asgard 2 in case you later buy headphones that are more difficult to drive.
