IPod/iPhone sounds bad next to Android?

So I have been using my Android tablet to listen to music with poweramp, and decided to use my iPod for once. I immediately noticed a problem with the high range of my music. It just didn't sound nearly as crisp as it did coming from my tablet. Has anyone else noticed this?

Which headphones were you using?

I used the ATH-M50 for the comparison.

Could be a tonne of reasons. Did you feel the volume was the same between both devices....and which devices are they specifically?

The Android is a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with cyanogenmod 9 (and poweramp), and the iPod is a 6th Gen nano running the latest firmware. Both of the devices are at about 35% volume with the E11 set to 4. I have gone through various adjustments with the amp's EQ and the ipod's EQ. Even with the "treble booster" setting on the iPod, the highest audible frequency range seems to be in the lower highs. The upper highs (16k and above) just aren't there.
