need help for choosing a 200$ over-ear headphones, for mostly rock and funk (RHCP)

I came to desicion to upgrade my sound experience on my computer as a starter.

First, i would like to make a desicion about what headphones will i buy.

the options that i found so far were the sennheiser hd 518\558\598 and the audio technica ath-m50.

I am a basshead, and a bassist, so these headphones will also plug into my amp while playing, so this part is important.

are there better choices for my music styles and usage?

and also, what cheap sound card (100$ tops) can run these headphones?

all of my music files are flac.

thanks!

you may wanna look beyerdyanamic DT 770, DT 880, DT 990.

why do you wanna soundcard? do you also play games? why don't you go for dac/amp?

actually, i don't really know about dacs and amps so if that is more recommended so let's go with that:)

i will check those headphones, but how about the headphones i mentioned above? are they not what i'm looking for?

since you are a basshead, M50 can be suitable for you.

But Beyerdynamic DT series would be a better option for you. Also if you are looking for a starter decent dac/amp, look for E10 or E17(also portable). But make sure that dac/amp can drive the headphone. Beyerdynamics headphones have 250 Ohm version, which would require more than power than E10/E17 can deliver

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z (SB1500), $98.10, Amazon

Check out the AKG K612 Pro (120-Ohm) headphones, so far I've been seeing positive feedback on them.

the akg's are not really available in my area, are there any more choices besides the Beyerdynamics and the audio technica?

and about the amp, it doesn't need to be portable at all, the headphones will only be at home, so first of all

how do i know if i need an amp or a sound card? and if it is an amp, fiio is the best choice?

check the impedance of phone, let us if the phone has an impedance of 250 Ohm. You need an amp which can drive phones upto 300 Ohms. another factor is sensiibility of the headphone, for example, K240 has sensibility of 104 dB (higher this number, it can be easily driven), but HE 6 has sensibility of 83.5 DB, this needs an amp to drive.

Fiio is a good amp for a beginner, but it depends on which headphone do you want to use.

for now, my choice is between the Beyerdynamics and the audio technica, i will hear them both and decide.

in case that i will choose the Beyerdynamics, what amp up to 100$ will do?

and if it is possible, that the amp will have line in for recordings.

a problem with the schiit combo, it's 200$, and the aune is 190$ and my budget is 100$...

isn't there an amp that can drive the beyerdyanamic under 100$?

look for soundcard as suggested by Purpleangel!
