Australian Tour & Impressions - Astrotec AX60 - Hybrid 3-way Universal IEM (2 x BA + Dynamic Driver) - Page 7

Hmm, don't like darker, the mid range was already borderline to warm for me, I lean very cool in tonality as preference. For example my Studio V and RDB v1 Mini right now are particularly bright, so bright I need to cap the volume to certain levels otherwise it's just sounds to rich and leans out. So I might give them a spin at the end but no more darkness, if only they could make filters to lean AX60 a fraction cooler in the mid range, that would suit me (for my preference) just fine.

This is why more manufacturers should do the "filter changing" business. If you prefer a certain signature, you can tailor the device to your needs! Excellent.

EDIT: Your comparison between the AX60 and the H-200 was perfect IMHO. Spot on.

Just received this one, Thanks Billy...

Quick test drive at work (unfortunately all the included tips are too small for my ear, so I have yet to get proper seal...)

But yeah, early impression...DAMN that bass...WOW, feels like sitting at the backseat of Commodore SSS with fully sick subwoofers mate...and soundstage...my goodness...I thought Dunu1k is massive, this is absolutely humongous, definitely the biggest soundstage I have heard from IEM...

sounds a bit boomy at the moment to my ear, but that maybe due to tip issue, but yeah, IMHO, definitely much better from H-200, and slightly better from Dunu1k...

Hahaha, damn! Actually makes me want to hear these IEM's really bad!

Just finished listening to Best of Cold Chisel (flac), I am using the treble filter at the moment and there are some sibilance here and there, mainly during Flame Trees and Khe Sanh, everyone knows that I LOVE Dunu1k...but this...this is something else...clarity, seperation, timbre, all are top class, and again...the bass...fully sick mayyteee...

...on to Missy Higgins now...

...though on the other side of the coin, Dunu1k is warmer, thicker, and slightly fuller sounding, which is my preference in sound...

...so yeah definitely Dunu1k and AX60 complement each other well, and it will be hard to 'choose' one or the other...I will definitely be hiding my wallet, or giving my wallet to my wife, or something like that...

Mayteeeeeeee, these IEM's sound like the bomb

Oh sweet! I'm next haha :D

Totally forgot!
Really psyched to hear these and I'll report back my findings :)
Can compare to GR07 BE, Fidelio S2, RE-400 etc. Gonna be tight yo

Really? If I remember correctly, the AX60s were darker.

Yep, how I heard them. AX60 warmer/darker tonality over the Dunny 1000's.

So does anybody hear that massive peak at 8 - 9khz? Or is Rin's measurements wrong again?

My review makes note of it being quite audible with standard olive tips.

I find the peak to be very tip and fit dependant. Deep/shallow insertion makes a difference here.

Of course, the "other" filters clean it right up.

That is something I really look forward to... :basshead:

Stock silicone, shallow fit, I heard sibilance, and definitely bright sounding

I played with a whole heaps of tips last night - went to my trusty comply ts deep fit, the sound become a lot more balaced, the highs are tamed, and no more of the fully sick subwoofer (though don't get me wrong, the bass is still harder than H-200 and Dunu1k)

Heir tips seems to be the best, that fully sick subwoofer but treble is not as bright as stock silicone
