I dunno, I just like the idea of BIGGER=BETTER.

Actully, when I was a bass head. AFter a good bit of reaserach, it's accpected that a larger driver [properly tuned] move a little more air than a smaller one, namely wit Sub Bass response. For example the 70mm XB1000 while not as forward as the 700, has... a more visceral sub bass

still I don't need GREAT sub bass response in something like the 1540, and even my w10000x doesn't have SUPER Sub bass, but still

Anyhow, the 840 sounded wonderful with its 40mm so the size makes no serious impact. I still want these :D

PFF no thanks, I'm not that big into BASS heavy cans any more :3

I would like to try the Sony M900 :D the open air balanced 70mm ^^ I'd love to see some closed applicaions of that driver.

but yea no thanks, when I sold my xb 700 it was because it was TOO bassy, heck I dont even use the Bass Boost in my car any moar! I can't stand ... overly forward bass!  The HE 400 is about as bassy as I want my headphones! Which is good :3 since my w1000x and dt 880 are both [imo] perfect for non EDM music [I modded my w1000x to be bass wise on the same level of the dt 880]

I dont think driver size has alot to do with SQ or big sound, maybe just bass

Agreed. It's all about the quality of the driver itself and the tuning of it. And so many other variables. The size is probably the least of it.

so we can conclude driver size doesnt matter? XD

edit: lets leave it at preference :3

Hey, like a few other things in life, it's not the size that matters, but it's what you do with it :D

Sorry if this was linked already.  The headfonia dood raves about them; his impressions match mine exactly, especially about the soundstage.  I`m not familiar at all with Shure headphones, but he claims the 1540 should be the flagship.

Exactly I just like big drivers, forgive me if I'm used to bigger than average "things" in life ;3,

wait "almost HD650 like" what... HD650 like q.q let's hope some one will mod these :3. Nothing worse than "mid range" bloom imo! [the w1000x had to much of it hence is why I modded it" ahm. Either way :D sounds good!
