Sound cards for HD 598's + Astro Mixamp?

Hello, I'm going to be buying the Sennheiser HD 598's and am wondering whether I should get a sound card with them or not. I currently have an Astro mixamp that came with my a40's so I was wondering if a sound card + astro mixamp + the HD 598s would be good for GAMING. If the sound card won't add much for gaming I may not get it. I'd like to spend less than $100 if so.

A sound card won't do anything for you. Consider the ma900 as well.

Your computer would need to have DDL (Dolby Digital Live) for the Astro Mix-amp to provide headphone surround sound.

If you got an Asus Xonar DG (PCI) sound card (does not have DDL), you could would not have to use the Astro mix-amp with the computer

Xonar DG is $26 and there is a $10 mail in rebate this month (Amazon)

DG comes with Headphone Surround Sound and a basic headphone amplifier.

Yea, The Xonar DG sound card will do Dolby Headphone Surround Sound at least as good as the Mix-amp.

(maybe even better?)

Astro Mix-amp is great for consoles, but sound cards are the better choice for Win PCs.
