The king of all tweaks? - Page 2

A very impressive looking device!

But my impression (from one who could never design such a beauty), is that the roller/ball bearings have metal to metal contact with the cone surface. That seems like it would create some sort of mechanical noise during motion. A very small amount of noise. But still, the purpose of such a device is to remove vibration, not add noise.

Then again, maybe I am jealous.

I am happy with my 18" ceramic tile and 1/2" foam from Home Depot. Then there is the 16" inner tube with the 18" ceramic tile.
All for under $10.

Now am I deluded, cheap, or both?

I can't possibly imagine how that could work better (or even as well) as three spikes. Heck, I'll bet propping your components up with three 1/8"-1/4" headphone jack adapters is just as good!

LOL! Or, better yet, propping up components with 3 K501 drivers. Since it is a well known fact that these do not produce any audible bass, they must be helluva stiff! In fact, they probably absorb vibrations since they refuse to give any out.

j/k

ok, pablo, you can kill me now.

Well, there's two things. Spikes...well, they just support. They don't isolate. If you don't have a lot of problem with vibration, then you won't notice an improvement. For the rest of us that live on planet earth (for now, anyway), vibrations are a problem. So you need some sort of isolation mechanism, be it an inner tube or floating magnets or whatever. But I can imagine pretty much anything sounding better than just spikes.

That's the problem with a LOT of expensive tweaks -- the improvements are almost always imagined.

Isolation? Slap a few layers silicone rubber sheets on a ½" plexiglass board with teflon feet. Cheap, looks like crap, so what, you got the effect that you wanted didnt you?
