Knowing that a AMP/USB DAC headphone amplifier can act as a DAC when connected to computer.

However, i am wonder if it can act as a DAC when i connect it with my ipod by using a dock to USB cable!?

No. Not ipods, unless it's one of a handful. Ipads work with some through the cck. New ones with lightning connectors vary from dac to dac. Best ask dac manufacturer.

Might be better to buy a DAP (Digital Audio Player) that comes with a better DAC chip, then the iPod.

Like the FiiO X3.

As Apple does not make it easy to use their portable products with an "portable" add-on DAC device.

The HRT iStreamer is an external DAC that can be connected to an apple LOD port, it's only $230.

Well they kind of do if your budget can fit in the hpp1 and the algorhythm solos.

Alone the ipod is terrible for a dap the dx50 is much better.

Thank you guys! You help me a lot!

Then I should go for a better music player and an amplifier for portable use!

Better music player with a good built in headphone amplifier.

Apple makes good portable audio, but there is better.

Fiio, iBasso, Cowon.

its good. but there are alot of things i personally would change about the Apple ipod product, i really feel with the ammount of backing the company has if it wanted to be a staple point in digital audio players it definitly would be up there. but i guess there just isnt enough people who use ipods for a audiophile grade setup. and even if you do, it just ends up being a media carrying device if you say use a algorhythm solo and amp, you completely bypassing the ipod all together. basicly rendering it useless.

dont get me started on itunes software
