Plug & Play USB Soundcard vs. PCI/PCI-E Soundcards

Thread Starter

I've just recently bought a set of Audio Technica M50 headphones to replace my broken pair of Steelseries 5Hv2 headphones but I am still using the same USB Soundcard that came along with the old pair. My question is, will buying a new PCI/PCI-E soundcard make any noticeable difference in audio quality? The Plug & Play soundcards don't seem bad but they look cheaply made and may not be optimal given my new set of headphones.
