I need some advice about an amp for the HD 598

I am looking to get the hd 598 headphones but I am not sure if I need an amp. I have the HT | OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 sound card.

Would there be noticeable difference with an amp and a budget of $150? I was looking at the Black Objective2 amp and it looks pretty good. What do you guys think.

You could sell off the Striker 7.1 and get the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z (SB1500), $100.

the SB-Z's headphone amplifier should easily drive the 50-Ohm HD598.

Or save a few dollars and get the 50-Ohm HD558, same drive, just different cup designs.

Technically the O2 amplifier is a better amp, then the one on the SB-Z.

Would the amp increase the sound quality?

The O2 headphone amplifier should improve headphone audio quality, over plugging headphones directly into the Striker. I own an O2 amplifier and it does a nice job.

But still think the SB-Z would be the better investment, plus you can sell off the striker for a few dollars.
