For Sale:
Vintage STAX SR-5NB Gold + SRD-6SB

Will Ship To: US

For your consideration today, a pair of STAX SR-5NB headphones. These headphones have been with me two years now(about a year ago I dropped them and broke some of the plastic on the headband, please see attached pictures for the damage. Because of this, the left side of the headband doesn't always hold where it's set and it can slide. The headband is easily replaceable if you have a spare/want to DIY something else.) I paid $350 for these two years ago, and have only seen one pair for sale since.(which also sold for $350).

I've enjoyed these headphones a great deal while they've been in my possession. Throughout the past year I've been trying to displace them with a modern headphone. Many headphones came, and left embrassed by the STAX. You can read my impressions of the HD700(and a summary of how the other headphones including these compare) here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/673168/headamp-hd700-demo-review#

You can read my comparison to the headphones that did replace them here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/661368/ultrasone-edition-12-announced-in-japan/180#post_9782810

And a comparission of the SR-X III(SR-5NB uses the same drivers with a larger housing) and the Lambdas here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/172611/long-meandering-comparison-of-stax-404-and-stax-x-iii-episode-i

With these headphones you will receive it's matching transformer box, original box/packing, and for an added cost one of the two speaker amps I've been using with them:

Sherwood S6000: Tubey sound: warm/dynamic/intimate, please see pictures(You're really want another component to put on top of it to block out the ugly) This amp is a perfect match for the SR-5s IMO. I found it superior to the T1 in every category but micro-detail retrieval. Similar sound-signature though the T1 was also more liquid and/or bloated in comparison. One aux, one out, one phono, very competent AM/FM tuner $80+ shipping

Sherwood S7210A: SS sound: lean, aggressive, maybe a little sterile. Gives the SR-5 a very detailed sound. With some albums you get really nice punchy bass, though for the majority of albums it may be too light & airy. It's a good starting point for them and far from a bad match.(I compared a Pioneer SX-780 to both of these amplifiers and found it mushy and uncontrolled sounding in comparison. The Pioneer sounded more like the S6000 than the S7210A) Also the S7210A has multiple inputs/outputs, phono, built in tuner(needs a good antenna to pick anything up) $50+ shipping

International shipping is a possibility though I will not ship the speaker amps overseas(for obvious reasons) and will not be held accountable for any further damage the headband receives in transit. Thank you for your interest and do not hesitate to ask any questions or for additional pictures.

I've currently got it on ebay and have a fair share of people watching them. If you are interested I ask that you please check the listing here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171181644636?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649 as I am a little uncomfortable shipping overseas and when I sell with ebay they handle the overseas shipping for you.

If it does not sell there I will respond to the two of you in the order in which you contacted me. Punkplayer contacted me first and has the better feedback so I'd ask that you not hold it against me that he has dibs if the ebay auction does not work out.
