Hi guys and gals
I'm getting back into head-fi after misplacing my CK10s during a night on the town, and moving to a new place where my speaker setup can't get ample space and placing.
I would buy another pair of CK10s if they were still available, but alas there seems to be absolutely no new ones, with the whole discontinued debacle, and people tend to hold on to the ones they got or sell at very high prices, therefore I've been trying to research what is out there so far, both IEMs and CIEMs. I can afford to wait and save up some money, since i just ordered a pair of Vsonic GR06 as a budget pair until i get a new top tier set. What i liked about the CK10s was their ability to separate the instruments, the speed, tight bass although there could have been a dash more of it, nice highs and great fit. As of now I'll be running directly from my iPod Classic 6g, but will be upgrading with either amp or capable DAP like the DX50. In the IEM department I've been looking at CK100pro, E-Q7, PFE 232 and DBA-02, but none really seem to fit the bill, although the CK100pro might be closer than Í'm thinking? In the CIEM department I might have settled on the Cosmic Ears BA4, from they description and the fact that they are Swedish and I'm Danish, so it'll ease and speed of the process and might help if anything should go wrong. And comments or suggestions on my thoughts?
As the title also says I'm looking for at fullsize setup as well. The same sonic traits apply here. I've been looking at AKG K70x, since they also seems to fit the bill. I am a but deterred though, since I previously owned a set of K601 run through a Caiman+ amp/DAC, but I never really settled into them, thought I'm beginning to suspect the Caiman of being inadequate, which is also why I sold it a couple of years ago. So might the K701 + a good amp, be a fullsize CK10? Oh and btw for the fullsize setup, the source will be MBP with iTunes all songs in ALAC, and USB to a Stello DAC100sig, so i have the possibility of balanced from Stello to amp.
Edit: Music genres include metal, rock, blues, indie and a bit of jazz
