Title pretty much says it. Will it work? I really don't want an iPhone 4.

To connect a DAC to iPhone 5:

Lightning-to-30pin --> Camera Connection Kit --> USB Cable --> DAC

Edit: Or this should work.

This works on iPhone 4 and 4S under iOS 7 as well. Proprietary Apple DACs are a thing of the past. :)

You could skip the 30 pin converter and go lightning CCK to USB cable/adapter to DAC if you're using an iPhone 5

Im kind of new to this amp stuff. Just to clarify, I want to amp my headphones, but I have an HTC one and I heard android and amps dont go together well. If I were to get an iPhone 5 and fiio e11, could I power it with an L7 to a lightning to 30 pin adapter, and have the same quality that it does with an iPhone 4?
Sorry for any confusion.

So, you just want an amp for the phone and are trying to get line-out?  It seemed like you were trying to get digital out to a DAC.

The E11 is an amp only (no DAC) and the L7 is a line out/USB in adapter for Fiio's other devices E7/E17, so I'm still confused as to what you are looking for.

Ya :/ Sorry about that. I meant amp and not DAC. Anyways I found the answer in another thread. Well, at least I know about the DAC too.

Uh... how do you delete threads?

Just thought I'd mention that the apple 30 pin to lightning adapter now uses a wolfson DAC, rather the no-name Chinese DAC in the iPhone itself. I bought one for my ipad 4 just so I could use an external headphone amp and was quite astonished to stumble into a huge upgrade in sound quality. Trust me, it is not a subtle difference. That DAC in the adapter is WAY better the one in the ipad. Very pleasant surprise! Best $30 I've ever spent in audio!
