So I wanted to upgrade my computer audio a bit.

Old setup

Speakers: M-Audio Av40s

Cans: grado Sr80i, Akg q701s, Akg 240s.

DAC/Amp: HiFiMAN EF2A

I never had a lot of issue with this system everything works great I just wanted a little better sound. So I am upgrading everything besides my headphones.

New

Speakers: Mackie MR6mk3

DAC: Schiit Audio Bifrost

Amp: Unsure.

I am not sure what amp to go with for my headphones.

Has anyone tested the asgard 2 vs the valhalla amp?

Also I will put up a review for the new stuff once I have had time to test it all out.

So you are going to buy $400 speakers, and you have $200 headphones, and then spend $350 on a DAC? I'd go for better speakers instead of putting quite so much into the DAC. You can definitely easily step up from those Mackies in SQ. Spending a ton on a DAC is the least efficient way to get a good SQ upgrade.

The dac isn't just for that system, it will move between that one and my rotel amp and focal speakers downstairs.
