Looking for advice on first SACD player and basic encoding questions

Hi,

Right now I am using a Peachtree iDecco, Sennheiser HD800s along with an Apply TV unit (for streaming) for my setup.

I have started accumulating my favorite discs in SACD format, especially now that I have traded up to the Sennheiser 800s.

I am a little confused, my iDecco has a DAC built in, how does the hardware know what DAC to use?  Do I disable the one on the SACD player.

I would love to keep the SACD player in the $500 range.

Does it make sense to try to rip SACDs to files?

Thanks so much.

Bill

Digital output ports automatically bypass the built in DAC chip

I would assume that whatever device you get to play the SACDs, will automatically output digital audio thru it's digital output ports (USB, optical, coaxial) or the SACD will come with setting to switch outputs, but I would assume it just automatically output to all digital ports.

(best guess)
