Fair enough. All your posts are about how much you like the PM1, so I guess you would disagree, ha ha... Seems like you're really enjoying it, that's great! Like I said, I don't think it's a bad phone...

Sometimes I think people like to complain just to make everyone else miserable.

You dont, so you really have no way to make an informed decision here, as you have no idea about shipping times and customs.  I paid $100+ in shipping and $250 in customs for my PM1s.    And I will get stuffed with shipping and customs again if i need to sort out warranty service.  Do you want to cover these costs for people living outside the US?   If not, then I suggest you stop telling them what they should do or shouldnt do, and maybe not stick your oar where it doesnt belong.

Ah yes.   Those who have nothing but praise are, of course, being rational and objective while those who have issues are just whiners.

Nice.  Way to wash off the concerns of quite a few people here with your nice, generalized brush.     I'd say more but then I'd probably get banned, but suffice to say I have a very low opinion of posts like these.   They are patronising and dismissive of the concern of other people's issues, and extremely irritating to boot.

Mods have already said that this is not the place to whine about international prices.

1/ Your post here is off-topic as you are not posting an impression, but merely whining about other people's posts.   Also, since you seem to be so bent-out of shape over this OT stuff, please go back and chastise everyone who's posted a "ooh, i am so excited about these headphones" b/c those are not impression eithers.

2/ You are about 30-40 pages too late.  We've moved on.  Try staying abreast of where the conversation is before you decide to poke and prod, and add your own whines to the mix.

I've moved the non-impressions discussion from the impressions thread here. Please make sure which thread you are posting in when posting. Thanks.

Which thread is this one... impressions or non-impressions? I can't tell.

This is the impressions thread.

As long as they are impressions about the company, the distribution mechanism and the pricing structure.

It's a bit confusing, but I guess I have to live with that. Not a big problem.

Your immature ranting and raving like a spoiled child serves no purpose to either the product, or the readers, or the forum.
Being unreasonable and argumentative for the sake of being such is not a response worth even replying to, but seeing has how the moderators have failed to control such things,
and seem to pick and choose which comments are allowed whether they go against the forum rules or not, maybe I will get lucky and get the same treatment, but probably not.
Anyway, here goes...

I have had a mailing address outside of the USA and received packages to that address in years past, so your comments that I have not is made out of assumption and ignorance.
Maybe it wasn't in the UK or any European regions, but that in and of itself does not assume I am not intelligent enough to know and realize how import fees, taxes, and shipping charges work.
Even if you do incur the charges that you listed, it is still cheaper to order the item from the USA, just like I stated in my previous comment. wink.gif

Just as well, it has been said over and over again that Oppo Digital Inc in the USA does not control the overseas pricing schemes, yet you and a few others continue to beat a dead horse over
and over and over and over and over again, thinking that if you complain loud enough that something will change.
Oppo Digital has done their very best to help that specific issue, but you still think somehow you are being cheated out of something.
No one, including you, are being forced to buy the product. It is a luxury item that some choose to buy. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. It couldn't be more simple.

You are right in the fact that my post was off topic. However when even more comments bickering about price, after they already made it clear that the discussion of it should not take place in that thread,
I felt I should say something. I find it quite ridiculous that people feel they should troll an impressions thread and cause argumentative bickering over something
that has no place in that thread. Using a bit of wisdom and self control when deciding what and where to post is something some people seem to have trouble understanding in this forum.

Your last comments really don't make much sense.
The "ooh, i am so excited about these headphones" comments are mostly in the past tense of that thread, before the moderators made it solely about listening impressions.
Even if there are such comments, they are usually made by a person one time, and not repeated over and over again like the same complaints we have to endure from you and others
who can't seem to help themselves from trolling and thread crapping every chance they get, with the same repetitive whining and ranting.
Your "30-40 pages too late" comment is also perplexing, since my original comment was made immediately after a couple of people started complaining yet again about overseas pricing.
Perhaps you did not bother to read the moderators comment about moving posts to this thread from the impressions thread where they did not belong.
I guess that would confuse some types.smile.gif

This is NOT the impressions thread. Moderator moved some commnets here since they were off topic. wink.gif
I disagree with your assessment though.
My interpretation of an impressions thread is limited to the impressions of the product in the title.
If it is the PM-1 impressions thread, then the comments should be about 1st hand impressions of the PM-1.
The impressions of users who specifically own or have heard the PM-1.
If anyone has not had personal experience with the PM-1, then they should not be commenting in the PM-1 impressions thread.
Other such comments can be made in a different thread like this one... "Oppo PM-1: A New Planar Magnetic Headphone!".

I agree with with Smarty-pants either buy them or not.  If you don't like the local price move to the USA, but if you do you better budget for a flack jacket, its getting dangerous here.

Especially being a fairly new member, I accept the moderation policy. How they choose to do their things is their choice. It's a huge and active site: can't be easy to manage.

I also take your point. If an impressions thread is about listening only, then it is about listening only, and not about cost, distribution, or the colour of the MD's socks. If that's how it is. You could then very validly ask if the thread is for speculating about the product or talking about any ancillary aspect of buying it. You could, very validly, say that the thread should be reduced to 10% of its length.

So there we go. Perhaps we should have a thread called Talking about arguing about ancillary aspects of the OPPO PM-1.

Or perhaps we should just get back to talking about it.

Hmmmmmm. I see another lockdown screaming in at Mach 1

Btw, this whole "Oppo Digital doesnt control international pricing" canard - let me clarify something about this subject.     Yes, we all know Oppo Digital isnt responsible for international pricing.   So what?   When did this become only about Oppo Digital?    Oppo is an international player and is going to be selling those headphones globally, right?    Someone at Oppo, the overall entity, IS responsible.

I fail to see why, just b/c someone from one subsidiary is posting here, the entire organization gets to play "pass the buck" with pricing.

Because make no mistake - charging 1100 quid for the headphone is nothing short of price-gouging.
