Oppo PM-1: A New Planar Magnetic Headphone! - Page 10

As Jude said, this VP for Oppo was there at CanJam but they did not have a booth. He showed up on Sunday and showed the headphones to Jude and some other people. I missed him and could not see them.

OPPO never doing anything half hearted, a few years ago they were the new upstarts in the DVD player market, now they virtually have the high end BD player market to themselves so it will be fascinating to see and hear how these headphones perform, I for one have very high hopes.
I am in agreement, I wish for the best success of Oppo to pull this off. It only makes sense they get deeper into the audiophile market since that has been their direction with their latest players. The cell phone could be a really awesome product for SQ too! I need to dig up more info on that...
+1, been waiting for a new planar to hit the scene. I'm glad oppo is working on these and I really do hope they succeed, though my wallet begs to differ.

Round(ish) traces on the driver - great to see this driver design returning as well (it was extremely common in the vintage orthos, although it was then always a circle rather than an oval).

Can someone post an image on what they mean by going back to that particular tracing? Used to the planars of today...

Dear Oppo,

Let's do $499 and call it a day...  I will be waiting for your response...

Regards,

:D

Can we get a rep from Oppo to chime in here and give more details?

And $400-$500 sounds good. Pre-order sale maybe?

Why don't we all band together and say that we would not pay a penny over $399 for them, or if they were priced at $299, we would all immediately buy a pair...:veryevil:

2 pairs per person, immediately, if $199.

When the market does not hint or dictate what they would pay for something, the manufacturer will price the item at whatever they see fit.

Like Abyss... lol. I don't think anyone expected a planar cost as much as the SR009.
