Is my headphone broke?

My Shure SRH 1840, sometimes randomly stutters and the sound goes from left to right and back from right to left during this stuttering. Anyone has any idea what's going on here?

I can't reproduce the problem by twisting the cables, so I don't think it's a problem with the cables.

If both drivers works its a cable problem, Somewhere.

A replacement is not that expensive.

When I twist the cables, the problem doesn't happen. It's happens random out of nowhere and after 2-3 seconds the sound is fine again. If it is a cable issue, shouldn't the problem occur when you twist it?

What's your source?

Apogee One connected to my Macbook Pro. The problem occured also on the headphone out of the Macbook Pro, so the Apogee One isn't causing the problem.

I can't rule out the possibility that the Macbook Pro is causing the audio stuttering however.

Try different sources then, Tell us later the results, in any case, shure has a decent service center.

I did some testing, it's not the source causing the problem since the same thing happens on my iPod with these headphones directly connected to it. My other headphones don't have this problem.

So I have Shure SRH 1840 which randomly stutters which I cannot consistently reproduce. You think Shure will replace it if this fault can't be reproduced at will?

Is it a cable or driver problem?

I have re-cabled the Shure SRH 1840. Let's see if this problem is fixed. If not, it's the fault of the drivers then since these cables are brand new.

I really really really love these headphones .... they sound incredible and it would be disappointing if it's not functioning 100% :(
