Head-Fi has a thumbs-up button so you don't have to dedicate an entire post for saying only '+1' or '+2.'

Sorry a simple post has upset you so.

It's not really one simple post per say, but a collection of +1 and +' ' posts that I've unfortunately have had to read over the past several months-- literally hundreds.  I don't even know why Head-Fi is so obsessed with doing it, especially when the forum software has the thumbs-up button.  If you want to say you simply agree with a post, then thumbs-up it.  If you want to agree with it and actually say something worthwhile, then say you agree with it and further write out why you agree with it.

Enough of my rant, I don't want to dwell on the matter too much.  Some things are just worthwhile mentioning though.

It's simple. People don't notice when someone receives a thumbs up. I for instance never look at that. So, if you agree with someone or you want to back him up you just say a +x and everyone will see smily_headphones1.gif

I wrote about the LCD-XC in post #173 back on page 12: http://www.head-fi.org/t/685524/canjam-at-rmaf-october-2013-impressions-thread/165#post_9907290

I notice it.  Plain as day.  There are a hundred better and more useful ways to write out you agree with something that help contributes to the topic at hand than giving a 2-key reply as well.

ASR, were you talking about the XC's bass or midrange-treble when comparing it to the aggressiveness of the AD2000?

-1.  With the like button, people only see how many people like something.  To see who likes it, you have to click on the like button and scroll down the list.  That's valuable time I could be using better helping the destitute or abusing cough medicine.  When we post +1 on the forum, you're forced to see it, so my opinion is much more in your face, which is how I like it.

Also, what if I want to add more than 1?  What if I want to add, say a million in a clever original twist on the age-old "+1"?  If I do it within the thumbs up, people may miss it among all the tiny people saying +1.  If I post it bold as you please as my useful contribution on the thread though, you will be able to see just how much I added.  I may even shake it up with multiplication, I'm a wild card like that.  These are all things you need to see, and nesting them within a tiny button shunted off to the side to see at your own volition would seem to minimize it's vital importance.

I think you just don't like all the tedious math of all the high falutin addition going on 'round these parts lately.

I do notice the thumbs up and use it often, although it seems to be less visible since mobile mode (which I use even on my desktop) got added. It does seem to used a lot less than in years gone by.

Where's the "IT SUCKS" button. . .

Reminds me of some of the arguments people on MacRumors had over their +/- post rating system where users' posts could get negative votes.  Those were fun.

Not really either of those. I was referring primarily to it having a similar upfront/close-up/almost-in-your-face quality as the AD2K, but not to the extent as the AD2K. As far as sonic aggression, the most similarity was in the mid-bass/mid-range, and much less the lower bass and treble.
