AKG K812 Pro - Page 26

Did anyone compare the K812 with the K1000 ?

Some people say, the K812 is the next step after K501 & K1000. Just on a much higher level then those 2. That would be awesome *____*  Mine hopefully arrives today  <3

Some people say that Beats sound like heaven on a stick.

Actually . . . . I meant people here in Germany, who received their pairs ;D People, who know the K501 & K1000. And if thats really the case, that would be a sensation. But I 'll wait and see until my pair arrives. MY BODY IS READY XD

I have 2 pairs of K1000, and they sound very different.

One is bass light and the other is bass heavy.

You would have to specify which one you want to compare to the K812.

Since I don't have the K812 nor the K501, that leaves me out of the hunt.

Bass heavy - serial below 3000

300€ more expensive than the HD800 in Europeland...pass.

Same price up here, looks like AKG don't mind that sale price is higher than MSRP, kind of f...ed up policy.

AKG releasing headphones that are more expensive than the Sennheiser HD800s and perform worse in measurements. AKG just keeps sliding down the crap pile of audio companies and coasting upon their previous talent. Seriously, the pricing is an insult to consumers.

I believe the AKG K812 should perform better than the Sennheiser HD800 with amps that doesn't have voltages or simply straight out of an iPhone.

The only way the AKG K812 is attractive is when the AKG K812 is cheaper than a well drive Sennheiser HD800. That's probably why it's currently priced higher I assume.

You can drive the HD800s with an Objective2 and it will sound exactly as it should. Don't try and spin the HD800s as an expensive to drive headphone because they aren't. A lot of people just don't like the sound and use amplifiers to bring up the bass, lower the treble and smooth them a bit (people do like distortion). However, the K812s are not meant to sound pleasing, they are reference headphones and meant to serve the same role as the HD800s. In this regard they fail.

The AKG K812 is not attractive in any bracket. You would never use them portably nor drive them off an iphone ever.

HD800 is nearly five years old.  It's expected for it to have a lower street price.  Check the K812 in five years for discounts.

If your product is better you can release at a higher price and if it isn't as good then you'll release for less. Marketing is the exception to the rule but that is only really effective in mass markets. I'm sure that AKG released at a higher price just to capture all the first day buyers but there is no way they can compete against the HD800s in the long term.

The K812s will be just like many of the flagships from other companies, subpar and not really worth being called flagships, at least not when compared to the flagships from companies like Stax, Sennheiser, Hifiman and Audeze who solve engineering problems with clever solutions.

At it's core it is a cash grab from the ship that is sinking from it's former greatness.

Uh, the fact that you can drive them from an iphone is huge. It's one of the biggest selling points of the K812 IMO.
