AKG K812 Pro - Page 168

When I had the K712 I really, really enjoyed it. But once I heard the K812, I sold the 712. It's great to see more new K812 owners posting here.

After having spent considerable time lately with the K812 and HD800, I've come to the conclusion that the 812 bests the HD800 on every genre of music I have thrown on them. I have held the opinion that the hd800 had the edge with classical, but no more. The K812 is just more realistic sounding.

K812 is very realistic sounding. I love hearing guitar plucks.:D

Also, thanks for the cable recommendations. Forza has me intrigued... good pricing too.

I hope you guys realise that part of the cable is still inside the can and non-replacable so upgrading the cable is just mere placebo (in this case)?

Or so it seems.

cheaper than thomann btw: http://www.muziker.de/studio-pa/kopfhorer/studio-kopfhorer/p/213006-akg-K812

I felt the same way in my time with both and other flagships in the $1000 to $2000 mark. To me the K812 is simply the better headphone out of the bunch and was a true genre master to me, it handled electronic to classical to vocal heavy music with ease and sounded better than anything around it's price range on all genres of music to my ears. While easy to drive, it's still a fickle headphone to system match.

I'm really enjoying the K712 as well, especially after it burned-in. I think I will be able to live with it as my main headphone until I upgrade to the K812.

I could easily live with the K712. Very nice sounding cans to be sure.

Hey MacBob! How's the amp matching coming along? I have been admiring your efforts from afar. I have been having fun with the 812 running off the Bryston BHA-1 and Woo Audio WA2. smily_headphones1.gif

Yeah still rocking/loving my little rig. My opinion of the K812 has only gotten sweeter with time.

I'm getting tempted to build up a desktop rig again with the Vahalla 2. So tempting because I can also add the HD800 too.

The only bit of spending I did recently was to buy the IE800 cuz I "need it".  And I like it. Still haven't gotten around to deciding on a cable for the K812. Its hard to decide between Toxic/Forza/Moon. They're all tempting...

Heheh! That's good to hear.

Yes, a desktop rig does offer a different dimension. smily_headphones1.gif ah... A good copper cable will do the trick. I've discovered that silver does detract from the organic sig of the 812.

Look forward to hearing about your decision on the desktop rig and the cable for the 812. smily_headphones1.gif

It's hard to imagine anything better than HD800, but i never listened to K812, maybe it's possible
