:D  I was thinking of famous out of production models such as K1000, R10, &c.

My thinking is the K1000 and R10 are overrated! I know people have K1000 and K812 and preferred quite clear K812! But back to the topic K812. This is only my opinion. You and other can have of course other opinions.

Not really sure about the K1000, but there are numerous people who prefer the R10 over any other dynamic headphone they have tried. Someone I know prefers the K812 to the K1000, HD 800, LCD-3, etc. but not the R10. A lot comes down to preference.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to preference, one way or the other.

+1

Absolutely! It's like even within Fitear CIEM owners, there's always division as whether the MH334, C435 or the MH335DW is the best.

All down to personal perception of sound and personal preference of sig. smily_headphones1.gif

I own both AKG K1000 and AKG K812 Pro. The K1000 is a specialist and superior in soundstage, he has the best loudspeaker feeling of all headphones. In the other terms (resolution, bass, musicality, highs) they haven´t any chance in comprehension with the K812 Pro.

It's all about finding the ideal headphone for ones ears in both sound and comfort.

@ macbob and Kiats:

Thanks guys. I'm in one those rare moments in my Head-Fi journey where I'm completely happy with both my home and portable rig. DX90 + K812 for home and DX90 + Sig Pro for outside has me completely happy. I feel like nothing is lacking and I can just enjoy my music without worrying about my gear now.

Once I get a shorter cable for the K812 I think my journey will be over for some time.

I'm even visiting Head-Fi less frquently now. A true sign of how satisfied I am. I will enjoy this moment for as long as it lasts.

Just recently received my K812's and have been walking around the house listening to Armin Van Buuren state of trance mix on iPod and amped with Fiio E17 - easy peasy to drive these top tiers for sure.

So far, so good, they remind me of the Sennheiser HD800's from initial listening, but its very early days and I'm looking forward to listening to different genres with my other amps later.

Build quality and general aesthetics is as you would expect from cans costing top money - top notch and a good looking can IMO.

Here's a pic I've already taken of my K812's but I've posted a shed load more on my headphones album, found on galleries, if you want to check the rest I took :)
