Are you drawing similarities in terms of sonics or just responses with the HD 700?

Initial impressions are good. Compared to Vali, it's more refined and smoother. Even allows me to listen to the K812 at a higher volume, so perhaps there's something to the distortion levels of the amp compounding. Also seems to reduce congestion I never knew was there. Treble is cleaner and decays better. I find the improvements more noticeable on the HD800.

More impressions:

To be honest, with this amp, the HD800 has really pulled ahead of the K812.

I'm gonna post my further impressions in the Questyle thread from now on. Subscribe to it here if you want to hear more:

Hello fellow AKG lovers, new proud K812 Pro owner here. I am driving the K812 Pro using the "Meier Stack" (dac: Corda Daccord & amp: Corda Classic, just got them recently) and so far I like what I am hearing. There's something about the AKG signature which attracts me very much, and I feel that the the Meier amp has the stuff to drive the K812 Pro properly. As far as headphones go I have experienced AKG's K501, K601 / K612 Pro, K701, K712 Pro and now the K812 Pro but as far as proper amps go I only recently got the Classic so I cannot speak with much experience there. Source is Asus Xonar Essence STX soundcard with ASIO drivers using optical output into the Daccord. Hopefully as time goes by I'll get to test the other AKG headphones again with this new setup too and there's also the futuristic Sennheiser HD800 to try out on the shelf.

Interesting Sonido, i'll be trying out the Questyle CMA800R as well at work on thursday . I'll be able to compare the K812 and HD800's on various amps, but it all depends on how busy business is; it probably won't be very in-depth, but we'll be able to relate maybe.

I'll post here once the opportunity presents itself.

This should be good.

Anyone here interested in the AKG K712 Pro, check out the new issue of Sound&Vision magazine. Writer Steve Guttenberg gives them the thumbs up.

Has anyone tried the Magni with these? Looking for a cheap amp that pairs really well with these, like the Vali is to the HD800.

I haven't heard the Vali, but the Asgard 2 does a nice job.
