That's simple wrong. Yeah, this is a reference headphone and bright sounding and when the recording is bothersome you hear it. When you want a warmer less accurate sound you can pair it with the Brocksieper EarMax SE. It has 20Ohm output impendance and silk the highs a little bit. But the best pairing for me is with Bryston BHA-1. Such a dynamic and great sound, amazing!

I heard distortion and excess energy around 3k that is indicated in the measurements on Innerfidelity. Maybe there is bad QC, or maybe your hearing isn't very acute in this region. But it's too early to say that people are "simply wrong". I will acquire a pair for myself and listen to demo units when they become available in the UK to get a better idea.

I think you're on to something. I may have to get a spare or TWO as well. I've seen K1000s go for over $2K USD on eBay. There may be an investment opportunity here. smily_headphones1.gif

Why are there so many contradicting reviews?

And why after reading a million posts i'm still not sure if they're better or worst than HD800?
please help ^-^

OK, it's possible that the K812 and the HD800 are no better or worse than each other?

^ I think at this price point, it all boils down to sound preference?

With flagship it's never easy to say there is a clear winner. One person's clear winner is another person's preference. What can be said about the K812 is that it's certainly worth a conversation, and that's great. And I think as the months go by with more and more comparisons, reviews pouring in, eventually with luck there might be some sort of a consensus about the K812 vs HD800 question.

As of right now, we don't even know what amps sound best with the K812. HD800 has been figured out already, and we know a number of amps that take the HD800 to the next level.

Phonitor 2 is on the table for discussion I guess for K812, but I haven't heard of anything else in particular having great synergy.

With my K812 coming in, I really hope this is not a repeat of the Seahawks-Broncos Superbowl where everyone thought it would be so close beforehand. We all know how that one turned out. Actually if the K812 played the role of the Seahawks in this one, I will be pleasantly surprised. :o

It's not much of a risk considering that he's going to be the one buying them off you.

Monday the Questyle comes in. K812 hasn't shipped yet, and should soon, so I'd guess by Wednesday.

What made you choose that over the Phonitor 2? About same price.
