I like the highs on the TH-900 a lot and don't find them fatiguing in the least. My only issue with the TH-900 is their warmth, but they're tremendously exciting. To me, they're like a big, fluffy dessert. The T1 and LCD-3 are my main course. The K812 is haute cuisine I'm supposed to like but find a bit overwhelming and edgy.

The distortion in the right channel was absent yesterday. I played 3 cd's, one of which is the one I heard the problem with, and all was fine. I don't know what caused the problem, or if it may be an intermittent type of issue. I'll listen some more over the next several days and see if it returns.
Anyone ever heard of this before?

macbob713, I don't know if this is in any way related, but if you search for "grattle" on these forums, you'll find discussion of hair touching the driver as cause for some problems. (I believe "grattle" was short for "Grado rattle," as it seemed, for a time, a bit more common with Grados than other headphones.)

I'm not sure what the distortion you were hearing sounded like. If you do hear it again, perhaps try closely examining the inside of the earcup you're hearing it from, just to see if there are any stray hairs poking through to the driver.

My K812 is at my local FedEx delivery center waiting to go out for Monday delivery. I should have it tomorrow unless the world comes to an end.

Good advice Jude.I already told Bob about this through PM. I guess great minds think alike :D (I hope this is what it was otherwise we might have a more serious situation). I have my air blower that I use on my DSLR sensor ready just in case.

When are you going to do a review of these on Head-Fi TV? I would love see that.

Thanks Jude, I appreciate you jumping in. I checked the ear cup closely, and it's clean, no hairs or anything else.

UPS handed it off to FedEx?

Haha. Opps. Sorry I mean UPS. I have the Sig Pros coming in by FedEx. Very confusing when I have 2 headphones being delivered by 2 different carriers and they have both been delayed. Sig Pros were delayed because of weather and the K812 because of... you know.

In that case, the intermittence of noise is possibly within the amplifier itself. It would likely come back eventually if it's the case. Keep us posted!

I tried another cd today, and by the 3rd track I heard the right channel clearly distorting again. I switched out the K812 and tried both the hd800 and the K712 and no problems heard. When I first heard it, I tried the same cd on several different sources and the 812 distorted each time.
I sent an email to Razordog today requesting a full refund. I'm really sorry these didn't work out. They sounded great and were ultra comfortable and well built, as well as beautifully designed. Perhaps when they iron out the bugs I would consider buying them again.

Distortion in right channel much worse now. Loud and sound cuts in and out.

Like jpslaw, I have the T1, LCD 3 and TH900, and I suspect what jpslaw is referring to, with which I have to agree, is that the bass in the TH900 is plentiful like the LCDs but less controlled. I would describe the bass as exuberant.

Once you have a chance to listen to the TH900, you will know what we mean. The AKG K812, on the other hand, is accurate and controlled, but manages to remain musical. You get bucketloads of detail which can be overwhelming. A bit like the HD 800 in that sense.
