I think all the Shures come with replacement pads except maybe SRH240A.

Today I heared a lot of time with the 812 but no ringing, no shrill metallic highs there. I cannot hear it, really.
Tyll, I'm curious about your measurements of the second example!

Interesting. I guess I better wait a few months before this ringing issue is fixed. Might be an issue with a certain batch?

As long as they don't change the ringing to vibrate mode.

Wonder if they'll pay you back if the headphones get damaged ..

ROFL :veryevil:

My Sig Pro also will not be arriving. "Severe Weather" according to UPS. I guess I'll be slumming it all weekend with my Spirit Pro. I did pick up Bravely Default though, so my weekend will be full.

And hey, if my K812 comes with a nice big crack like MuppetFace's or sounds distorted and rings like crazy like Tyll's, AKG can always pull out the train derailment card and say it's not their fault.

Ohh Man feeling your pain.

Silly question, did the train flipped over or is it just stuck?

Let's just hope for the best

FWIR, trains derail fairly often.

It doesn't mean the train with your package derailed, it just means somewhere on the tracks a train has derailed and it's delaying all other trains.

Yup. I know. I was just playing along because people were having fun. ;)

This same thing happened to me when I ordered my HD650 about two years ago now.

Just a bit off topic, but I remember when the AKG K701s were introduced roughly 10 years ago, Headroom wrote a long enthusiastic review about them as their new top pick for headphones, finally dethroning the Senn. 600/650 as their top recommendation,

mainly matched with the Headroom amps. I bought them and did like them a good deal (I still have them sitting in a drawer), and did find them more vibrant and overall more satisfying then the Senns, which I found to be too claustrophobic for me ('still have the 650s also). But I eventually decided the K701s just were a little annoying in the highs (yep, ringing) and did not have enough saturation in the mids and bass.

I wonder if the 812s have a family resemblance to the K701s.

Bad news to report on the K812, my right ear phone transducer is now to beginning to distort. At first I thought it might be the source, but after trying 3 different sources and several cd's, I have the same problem.
I really like these phones, and I know I'll have to return them, but now I'm not sure I want another pair. Really no excuse for this on $1500.00 set of cans. Anyone else have this issue with them?

Were yours also involved in a train derailment?
