This is my first time buying a good pair of headphones. I currently use Microsoft LifeChat LX 3000, and while it has served my purposes I want to make the move away from USB and have the money to spend on a good pair of headphones. I'm primarily looking for something that's really good for competitive PC gaming. I am looking for one that is closed and doesn't require an AMP, as I share a room with my SO and need the privacy. I am looking for something around the 150$ range but for something really nice I'd be willing to stretch it out to 200$. If it makes any difference, the sort of music I enjoy are instrumentals, contemporary classical, ambient, and minimalist.
A few that I have looked at are: Beyerdynamic DT-770, ATH-A700X , Audio-Technica ATH-A900X, Ultrasone HFI-580 S-Logic, and Audio-Technica ATH-M50. A lot of them are a bit over the budget I want to go over however; and I am not sure which ones would fit my needs best. I have looked at Mad Lust Envy's guide; however most of the headphones in my range were all open. I would greatly appreciate any help.
