ATH-M50 vs DT-770 pro - how many Ohms? Or something else? For field sound recording - not music but SFX/dialogue, etc

Hi,

I just purchased a pair of AKG 702 65th annies, which I am planning to use for sound design and mixing when I can not use speakers. (Ps - do these need an amp and what would be best but lowest price?)

I like them a lot. But I also want a set of closed cans for field recording and for taking to work in other locations. Something that will work well without an amp - as I might be using something like a Tascom or an H4n at times, which probably doesn't send out a ton of power. However, I will likely also use them for some designing and mixing off sight.

I'm really interested in the bd770s, but can't decide how many ohms would be best. I lean toward 80 because it sounds like they might be better, but I'm worried whether or not they will be too hard to drive. Since I have the annies, I prefer not to have a second pair that should ideally have an amp. I'm also concerned the 770 80ohms may be heavier on bass in a way that might make the recording less true to its real value. However, build and comfort seem superior. So if I go with these, how many ohms would you recommend? And do you think these are best? I prefer a more accurate soundstage, but I guess that's what the annies will provide, and if most cans are bass heavy a set built this way might be an added advantage for mixing.

Then how about the ath-m50s or some other pair? And how many ohms, if they have variable options...

Any and all thoughts appreciated!!!

I've never used them myself, but the Shure SRH840 are low impedance, so easy to drive. And seem well like by their owners.

For something lowering costing, JVC HA-S500 headphones $60.
