Trying to decide: HE400, HE500, HD600 or HD650 + Fiio E17/Fiio E9K

Hello for everyone!

Im from Brazil, so sry for my bad english.

Im trying to decide among all these headphones, but i rly cant decide...

I already have a ATH-M50 and a Vmoda M100 and im trying to buy a more detailed headphone for my genre of music.

I listen most metal/Gothic/Rock, and sometimes nu-metal and hiphop.

Bands like: Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacrimosa, Haggard, Theatre of Tragedy, As i Lay Dying, Paramore, Rihanna, Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, and others.

The only thing i know is ill problaby buy a Fiio E17 and, if necessary, a Fiio E9K.

Do you think the HE400 is good for metal with female vocals? Or the HD600 would be preferable? And about HE500/HD650?

i rly would apreciate any help with this... Any suggestion would be pleased! I already read all reviews from all these and cant decide! LOL

What would be the best set for metal and gothic female music?

HD600 + Fiio E17 + Fiio E9K

HE400 + Fiio E17

i cant spend more than $ 700 in all set (amp/dac + HP) and must be not to big (preference portable one or little amp like E9K).

Ty to all!!!!

Maybe just get the Fiio E17 and skip on the E09K.

Philips X1/28 Fidelio headphone is only 30-Ohms. so very easy for the E17 to drive and the Fidelio seems to be getting good reviews.

The HD600 sound more coherent than the Philips Fidelio and I find it more robust and comfortable.

I have HE 400 and I use them along with E 17.

If you can afford for HE 400 and schitt dac/amp go for them. You would be happy with this set up.

And do u like it with E17?

The mids of the HE400 are good enought for rock/metal and vocals?

I think im rly between HD600 E17+E9K or HE400 + E17.

The HE-400 sounds terrible and measures so with the leather pads.  With the velour pads they sound much better and can be a relatively inexpensive and good sounding headphone.

If I were to choose I would go with the HD600 as it sounds awesome with everything I throw at it and is not as blurry in the midrange as the HE-400 can be.

Do u think te HD600s would be nice with only E17 or is it better to buy E9K too?

I have not heard the FiiO products so hopefully someone else with chime in with their experience.  The HD600 is not that hard to drive, but having an amp that can tightly control the varying impedance vs frequency helps.

Here you can read about HE 400.....

If you are gonna buy your first audiophile headphones, you can consider HE 400. I have started this audiophile journey about 1.5 months ago. I have bought E17 and K240 MK ii initially. Then I bought HE 400 10 days ago. I received them 2 days ago. I can tell that there is a big difference between K240 MKII and HE 400 for same quality music (FLAC).

What is the quality of music source you normally listen? mp3 or FLAC or audio cd?

98% mp3 and 2% flac.

Did u listen to HD600 or HD650 before buying the HE400?

it is better to have 320 kbps mp3 (at least). Lossless (flac) or audiocds would be better.
I did not have an opportunity to compare hd 600 and he 400.
I bought used he 400 in a good bargain on this forum.

They are both going to be great options so there is no need to worry.  Go with the one that fits your budget.
