Will the Sennheiser HD598 be the best option for me?

This is my first post on this site so forgive me if this has already been answered somewhere else. I'm looking into purchasing some new headphone and need some advise on if the sennheiser hd598 will suit me or not. I listen to all genres of music but mainly classic rock, blues, and occasionally dubstep. I will be using my computer, iPhone, iPod to play music from and don't necessarily want to use an amp. I've heard the hd598's were great for the majority of my needs but I'm a little concerned with the bass not being good enough. I'm not a bass head by any means but seeing as I've never heard the 598's before I don't no what to expect. Any hints, suggestions, recommendations would be great. Thanks!

iPhone & iPod, so you will be using headphones in public?

The HD558 ($130) uses the same driver as the HD598.

The HD558/HD598 are open headphones.

I won't be using these out in public, most likely just in my home, already use my running earbuds when I go out.

Get the HD558s for $131.26, they are slightly more bassy then the HD598.

I love the 598. I can use it without an amp on my mac and also on my fiio x3 (ipod also works) - my android phone is not strong enough (don't know about the iphone). but in general i highly recommend at least an amp for the 598. they sound way better... i use the fiio e17 for them and it works fine.

and yeah: they needed a lot of burn in for me to enjoy. at the beginning they were just boring but now they sound brilliant.

you won't regret this headphone because its perfect value for money.

cheers

Go with the 558, it's a good start.
