Hey guys im new to Head-Fi and ive seen this site a few times over a few weeks trying to read up on headphones. The thing is my tastes in music is very wide for example i listen to german, russian, english and some finnish rock, jumpstyle, hardstyle, filthy dirty nasty dubstep, russian italian, german, and some spanish rap, the red army choir and russian waltz and some orchestra music, and italian pop. I also want to use these future headphones of mine to listen to movies and play pc games like BF3, CS:GO, L4D2, indie games and a wide range of other games like racing games, emulators and rpg games. So yeah my tastes have no end...well except american rap bleh!.

this is my priority Music>Games>Movies

                          1st       2nd       3rd

My budget is $220 USD.

These are the headphones that have been recommended to me over time.

Audio-Technica ATH-M50WH

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X

Audio Technica ATH-AD700

Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80 ohms

The ATH-M50 were recommended to me a lot but then i read that the sound stage is not wide so i wont know were the enemies will be when i game. What is cool about these headphones is you can twist them to put them in a backpack to take to college with.

The ATH-AD700 are open-air headphones so its a no go since i have a baby sis making a ruckus and a mom who does not know how to lower her voice volume.

The ATH-AD700X is the same reason with the ATH-AD700 they are open-air headphones.

Im really leaning to the ATH-A900X since i head great this about how wide the uses can be on these for music games and movies.

I might jump the gun and get the DT 770 pro but only if its good for my tastes.

So guys/gals i need some serious help from you veterans and the likes on what is the best headphones for my wide tastes.

Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 ohm seem like they might fit your needs. Fantastic price on these. They easily compete with headphones in the $200 to $300 range. They do need a headphone amp. Whether an external one or a sound card that has one built in.

What will you be hooking your headphones up to?

im going to be hooking it up to a MSI MPOWER Z87 with no dedicated sound card, itouch 4th gen, and a zune. if the DT990s are open headhpones im not interested.
